I don't feel warm and fuzzy. This year has been complicated from the start.

NY Giants - NFC #1 Seed, 0-1 Playoff Record
New England - Missed Playoffs
Super Bowl XLI
Indianapolis - AFC #2 Seed, 0-1 Playoff Record
Chicago - Missed Playoffs
Super Bowl XL
Pittsburgh - Missed Playoffs
Seattle - NFC #4 Seed, 1-1 Playoff Record
Super Bowl XXXIX
New England - AFC #4 Seed, 1-1 Playoff Record
Philadelphia - Missed Playoffs
Super Bowl XXXVIII
New England - AFC #2 Seed, 3-0 Playoff Record
Carolina - Missed Playoffs
Super Bowl XXXVII
Tampa Bay - Missed Playoffs
Oakland - Missed Playoffs
Super Bowl XXXVI
New England - Missed Playoffs
St. Louis - Missed Playoffs
Super Bowl XXXV
Baltimore - AFC #5 Seed, 1-1 Playoff Record
NY Giants - Missed Playoffs
Super Bowl XXXIV
St. Louis - NFC #6 Seed, 0-1 Playoff Record
Tennessee - AFC #1 Seed, 0-1 Playoff Record

Past 10 Super Champions overall:
1 Repeat winner, 4 Missed Playoffs, combined Playoff Record of 6-5.
Past 10 Super Runner-Ups overall:
None Returned to Super Bowl, 7 Missed Playoffs entirely, combined Playoff Record of 2-3.

I haven't researched it completely but I think that only one team ever repeated as Super Bowl champs without HFA throughout. Green Bay.

Good thing New Orleans is closer than 2000 miles away.

Correct. And until last year no team had ever lost the final three games of the regular season and won the Superbowl. And until last year no team had ever lost to Tampa Bay during the season and won the Super Bowl.

My source says New Orleans IS over 2000 miles away:

New Orleans to Seattle in Air Miles = 2,101

Another source has it at New Orleans, USA - Seattle, USA - Comparison and Distance between

I agree with what you are saying. There is no reason that the Saints can't buck all those trends.

There also is no reason to think they will.

Which is why I don't understand why so many in the media are hyping them so much.

But it's all cool. It's gonna shake out.

Yup. It will shake out for sure. But, even though I fall into it myself at times, trends are only trends until something different occurs. There are so many other variables that come into play that simple trends can be terribly misleading.

Heck, Atlanta should not have had three winning seasons in a row, right?
