We are done...
...losing.
Yep... It has been a while and we forgot for a bit what losing feels like. Still sucks. But no worry we won't be getting used to it for a while. That was the last one for this year. Thoughts on the game... Slug-fest between like Bruce Lee and Jet Li. Punch-Block-Counter-- crazy fists and feet flying to fast for the eye to follow. Fumbling the ball on the one was like slipping on a banana peel and getting hit by a lucky round-house kick and then the bad guy slipped away. We lost that battle. But the movie ain't over and we will catch that bitch and set things to rights. Biggest plus and minus from the game: Plus- Our Defense. They are getting pretty good(as soon as they learn how to tackle the QB they will be great--notice how they now swarm the shite out of every other position player who gets the ball--Smitty will fix this greasy QB thingy). Minus- The cat got out of the bag on our defense Monday night. No-one in our way is gonna be under-rating this D anymore. |

It means a lot to me. As for tackling, true, but you have to get hold first to wrap. Brees somehow allows only enough contact to contact but not get any kind of grip. And, no, I don't mean every single time, but he does it so many times it is weird. What I meant is you can't coach telepathy to enable the rusher to adjust the angle at the last second. Not saying here that brees isn't a very good QB, no doubt he is, but it's been a LOT of our games, and against QB's who AREN'T the 'highest' caliber talent wise Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: We are done...
the guys are coming in at out of control full speed; if they get that full speed controlled,
there will be hell to pay. NO DOUBT !!! and it won't matter who the qb is. they just have to get that speed controlled |

That is the Gregg Williams philosophy. You don't go for the sack, per se. You go to punish the QB and if a sack results, fine. But, you hit even if it occasionally results in a flag. This has several by-products. First is that it put a bit of reprehension in some QB's minds and that little delay means a lot. Second, can mean the beat down results in reduced physical ability, ... er, ... you have injured their ass. Thirdly, it many times results in a schematic change that pulls in extra protection and takes the opponent's offense out of their game plan. Saints Fan Since 1967

RE: We are done...
Right now, it's New Orleans defense that worries me more than anything. Yards aside, I was very pleased with our defense. When the #5 scoring offense in the NFL only puts up 7 points though, it's a concern.
