Vick to Mora: ‘There Was Nothing You Could Do, Jim’

TO toot my own horn, this is pretty much exactly what I said in my thread last week that got moved to the Vent forum . . . . the locked.

He was lazy. He was stoned. He cheated us all and there was nothing anyone could do. He wasn't going to change.

Apparently he forgets that himself some times.

But I REALLY wish the Vick apologists would remember that when they start blaming the coaches or even the front office for not sticking with him.

I suggest that those folks go out and find the hottest drug addict they can hook up with . . . and marry them. See how that goes.

As for people excusing what he did or wanting him back as a Falcon, I rarely see that and when I do its usually a troll. I know I wouldnt want him back with the Falcons. I also feel like you think anyone who doesnt hold a grudge against him until the day they die is excusing his actions. Thats not the same. Normal people moved past Vick when he left our team or shortly thereafter. There is a distinct difference between excusing someones actions and leaving the past in the past, where it belongs.

We are well beyond the Vick era. We are a better team as a whole, top to bottom. You can hate the guy until the day you die but it wont change what happened. I still say its petty, disgusting, and childish to be unable to move past it.

What is moving past it? Do you want me to be all smiles and positive about the guy? Do you want me to think highly of the guy and shake his hand and ask for his autograph if I ever see him? The guy was lazy, lied to everyone, viciously killed animals, and put a black eye on this team through his actions.

I never said I hated the guy, hate is a strong word. Do I hate him? No. Do I have a favorable opinion of him? Hell no. I don't really like him. The only people I "hate" are the degenerate scumbags who consider him a hero, excuse all his actions on and off the field, and obsess over him.

Where did I say that you have to hate the guy or you're excusing him? Right now, you're building what I said into one hell of a strawman and knocking him down. I am justified entirely to say I don't like him, and I am hardly dwelling on it. I would love to see us make his life miserable when we play the Eagles though.

Good for Vick to get things back in perspective, to be allowed a second chance, and finally be honest with the past.

As a longtime, 4 decades, Falcons fan who loves this team (big understatement) it does piss me off the guy with the most important job on the team who I defended year in an year out did not care about the Falcons one bit. Not even slightly. Not even for all the millions he was paid could he even try. Hell, even in this interview he still doesn't think it was all his fault.

People get mad when a player leaves for more money even if they gave everything they had while they were here but apparently it's not very trendy to be pissed off that someone cared so little for the team that many still love after he was gone.

It's not like I think about Vick that much and I wish him well, I guess, but admitting to things like DVD's stacked up, never opened, just reopens the wound a little.

Honestly other than from a general humanitarian aspect of wishing someone well who did some bad things, I don't think I really give a damn about Michael Vick anymore because he admittedly never gave damn about the Falcons and lied to everyone.

I am as sick of Vick winning player of the month awards that so many others deserved, much like some of the gift wrapped pro bowl appearances, just as I am of the Saints and Katrina being mentioned in the same sentence.

Many players go unnoticed because of others who are in the lime light for the wrong reasons.

The thing I remember the most is defending Vick.... constantly to the people that said he wasn't putting in the effort and we were better off with Schaub or any other 'traditional' QB.

The worst part about it was that after the truth came out it turns out all the other people that I defended him to were right... for the most part.

He wasn't putting in the effort... his ego was out of control... he was into some really bad and HIGHLY ILLEGAL stuff off the field.

But I realize now that no matter what we would would have NEVER gotten the most from him so it's better for us that he left when he did.

It's actually funny but this past week has reminded me of the problems with Vick as the QB. He's an electric player but he can take an alarming number of hits and if you try to build your team around him and he gets hurt there is such a HUGE drop-off to the next guy your team is going to be crippled without him.

At least with Ryan if he doesn't play we still have a chance to win because Redman is somewhat similar. When we had Vick and he didn't play... it would be a miracle if we managed to pull out a win because there is no one similar to him.

When i went to the Giants game a few years back and saw him stare down receivers then take off even when they were open, i used to tell people he didn't watch film and i got ripped. When Schaub came in a got 300 yards vs the Pats he looked better than Vck and the Vickiteers made every excuse known to man why Schaub played better "the called better plays" "The Pats defense was weak" "Schaub got better protection" The VickCuses never ended.. Im glad he's gone but wish him well. Vick reminds me of Obama, cause no matter how bad he messes things up, the Obama-ites are gonna blame everyone but him till the bitter end.
