RE: YKW seems like he has grown up
I have been watching him closely for several reasons.
One, because I always admired his physical talents and athletic abilities. Not everyone is blessed with the talents that he has or the instincts that he has and I was always so disappointed that he couldn't understand that it was a gift he should embrace and work to perfect ala Jordan and basketball. Two, because I was so hurt after the whole deal went down. I felt betrayed mostly because I spent so much time defending him and shutting people down who said he was garbage, guilty, etc. I felt foolish and embarrassed like I myself had been caught. I know that's silly, but it's how I felt. Three, because I believe strongly that every person, except child molesters and murderers, deserve a chance to get their life back and make good. I have been a supporter of many NFL players and others in life who got the second chance and made the most of it. I am and was pulling for Vick, not only for his sake, but for his family, especially his children, who had no part in the fiasco but were suffering nonetheless. I am so happy to see that he is working hard and seems to have turned the corner on the field. I think he's going to be one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game if he continues to work hard and listen to the coaches. Now, that being said, there is something that is bothering me a lot. I've listened to his post-game conferences and other interviews and STILL, even now, all I hear from Vick is I, I, I, I. It seems he still has that it's all about me attitude even now. Maybe I'm just uber-sensitive to it, or maybe it is just my management training, but if you listen to the "leaders" in the NFL, guys like Manning and Brady and even going back to Montana - you never really hear the I word. It's "the O-line did a great job", X receiver was amazing today, Y runner was on his game. WE have to work harder, WE have to correct this and that. To be honest with you, it's one of the reasons I've been so impressed with our young quarterback. Leadership and motivation to the team seems to come natural with him, even at his young age and it's surprising. When you listen to Vick, even now - it's I know I can do x and y. I just want to show what I can do. I blah blah I blah blah I blah blah blah. I'm not saying it diminishes his ability to be a leader, I just want to see him take that final step and make it about the team - not about himself. Learn to make the others around you shine and improve yourself in the process. That's a leader. Leaders don't have to tell the world what they are about or what they are doing - the world can see it in what they do. I'm hoping he reaches that point - I'd love to see it. ![]()

RE: YKW seems like he has grown up
It's good to see Vick trying to turn it around, but I'm not sold. He hasn't been fully tested yet...he's played against sub par defenses so far and it seems to be that we'll have to be the ones to give him that test. The Eagles play two defenses who can't put it together...in a row at that - the Redskins and the 49ers. The Redskins allowed a rookie QB to not only get his first win of the season, but helped snap a Rams' 14-game home losing streak. Wow. The 49ers have bigger issues though. Aside from Singletary's mouth possibly hurting the morale of the team, one (well actually two) stat(s) sticks out the most: 32nd in points allowed and to be more precise 31st in points made. I'm surprised they're not ranked lower in rush defense (15th) since the Chiefs put up 200+ against them this past Sunday. I'm also sure Ryan could carve these guys up at will, but I'm thinking the gameplan will be to take advantage of their banged up defense and run the ball down their throats. So with that said, Vick will have some success in the next couple of weeks, but it's going to be up to us to put a stop to all this Vick love...best QB in the NFC East? Statistically, he is, but we can expose him here. As I've said, I'm glad he's back and he's playing lights out right now...he seems to have his head on straight too, but the Falcons still owe him one...big time.

RE: YKW seems like he has grown up
Vicks true colors will show when he faces a real defense. Hopefully he is true blue and not once again just an athletic freak making subpar ptalent look like scrubs as he did in Atlanta.

RE: YKW seems like he has grown up
I must admit I'm impressed by Ookie's good play. And I hate it !!
Why? Cause we were going to have a hard time winning in Philthy as it was. Now, the chances are that much worse; and to lose to that scum bag is heart wrenching to me. Outside of our div., Philthy is my most hated team and with him at QB, well, fill in the blanks. lol Hopefully we wont lose, but I'm not liking our chances. ![]() check out this stat: Ookie only had 4 more rushing yards than Ryan last Sunday 30 -26 LOL |

RE: YKW seems like he has grown up
I have to be honest. I'm not rooting for him......and it has nothing to do with him at all.
There are a lot of this team's fans that still long for Michael Vick. Seriously, a lot of them. A small percentage of them even have a warped since that Vick was somehow wronged by the Falcons, and not the other way around. If Vick ends up going farther in the playoffs than Matt Ryan this year, we are going to be revisiting conversations that I thought were long behind us, and that is very unappealing to me. |
