"This draft sux, I don't care". Well, they apparently agreed that the best move was to go get a sure thing rather than meander in the mediocre.

I retract my comment then. Apologies.

I dont think Ive heard anyone say JONES WILL BE A BUST ...I dont think thats the case , he might never turn out to be the star we thought we were trading for but I dont see a complete and utter bust that we will regret for next 5 years making this move

It was just a complete and unnecessary and even a panic move

I can see how some may identify this with being a panic type of move, but if you listen to TD's post draft interview he speaks of being satisfied with the direction of the franchise and having faith and confidence in his younger players developing into starting both Role/Impact players. Aside from the outliers of a few older players on the team (peterson, Redman, McClure) our average age is 26 years old.

Much like Jedi, I did not see a ton of "impact players" after the middle of the first that knocked my socks off, and I have no clue whats coming in next years draft although I would be willing to put a sizable amount of money that TD does.....

Hey we all just have to wait and see how this turns out, but I love the aggresiveness of the move.. It says we are not going to sit around with our thumbs up our asses.

If I am a fan of the Saints right now, there is no way they cannot sign Nhamdi A. after what we did last night.....

I fully expect TD to have a couple of more moves up his sleeve in free agency....

Rise Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Very polarizing draft pick
To be honest, I like the move. What could we have gotten in this mediocre draft at 27 and into subsequent rounds that would have potentially propelled us as much as the choice they made? Honestly, look at this draft. The second half of the first round was even sub-par in my opinion. We still have several picks remaining in this draft to do some things we may need and/or desire to do. We will never know the masterplan of our FO. This is what I honestly think:

TD has been known to scout players well ahead of their eligibility to even declare for the draft. By the time they hit the combine, he may be well-versed on the scout report of many of the players. We had been stacking on draft picks and compensatory picks since he came here. Who knows? Maybe he obtained these picks to make such a trade with a team for a big splash in the draft. Maybe those picks were NOT intended to draft players; but, rather, to make such moves. We will never know.

Also, many people complained about TD building through the draft. This highly uncharacteristic move may mean they want veteran players to feel other needs of the team.

Your swapping 1st - moving up 21 slots

You give up a 2nd & 4th.......
and a 1st & 4th in next years draft ..
Just a dumb /panic move by TD and was held for ransom .

i'm not gonna argue maybe the price was a little too high, but come on swift, mortgage the future? who were we going to pick in the second and fourth that would have been an impact of any kind in this draft, with what's gonna be left there? next year is next year, who knows if it will even exist, much less who's gonna be there for us to miss out on. who knows that we don't trade back into the first next year, it was said over and over last night at the teams that really wanted to trade out of the first, i'm only assuming here, but that is more than likely going to be the case again next year. This is a YOUNG team, we may have overpaid, but we in no way mortgaged the future

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

not even bout 2nd ...shit we could have took Hankerson at 27 and made a package to get Kyle Rudolph at 30 and made bold move to get back in first round ..wouldnt that have been better then just Julio Jones..? YES IT would have we would have took

Just imagine a offense of WHITE, HANKERSON , Jenkins, Douglas, Kyle at TE

there were sooooooooo many other options ..You guys are getting caught up with the player think bout the possibilities of what we could have had if we didnt make that kind of bold move and made another one instead..

Great, Hankerson is the new Dez, just what this place needed.

I love all these possibilities Swift speaks of like there aren't 31 other teams making picks in the draft. Jesus christ he's dumber than a bag of rocks.

RE: Very polarizing draft pick
Our average age is 26 yrs old. We already have most of the young players in place. This move just puts our offense over the top.

This is my signature.

There are three camps really.

CAMP C: People who are taking a wait and see approach. Every player in the NFL Draft is an unproven player. If Jones turns into a perennial pro-bowler, I can see the move as having been worth the cost.
