Uh-Oh....Bad News About Cleveland
We're playing another 3-4 defense....

With the exception of the pasting we put on the Cardinals 3-4 we seem to struggle mightily against that defense, regardless of who we're lining up against.

Don't be misled about the Browns. They beat the Bengals yesterday and lost a tough one to the Ravens.

I don't think that there are any patsies left in the NFL any more. You have to bring it every week or you will get beat.

Looking at the struggles that both the Saints and the Falcons had yesterday against supposedly inferior opponents I think the case could be made that there was a little bit of a hangover from their match in The Big Greasy.

Our o-line played like it was tired.

Just a few ramblings.......

RE: Uh-Oh....Bad News About Cleveland
No doubt that NO game took alot out of both teams. Our line hasnt looked great all year but seem to do just enough to win and that is good for now. As long as they keep gelling and get the pass blocking figured out by the mid point of the season I will be happy.

And yes come to play or dont come at all in the NFL there were a ton of games yesterday where the clear cut favorite got there asses handed to them some won and some lost but theres alot of parady in the NFL.

And I would be interested to know exactly what the problem is we have with the 3-4. Dont get me wrong I know there is a problem but what is it? Is it the O-line failing to make blocking adjustments? Perhaps Matty doesnt like what he sees pre-snap? I am not sure its always debated over the boards but I would like to know for sure and I certainly hope the coaches know and can solve it soon.

Exactly Gritz I've always believed in "ON any given Sunday" and that's what I love about our sport. Still there were teams you knew would somehow make a mistake or just blow it but this year no team seems to be an easy win .

Look at the Rams for example and I believe they have the real deal in Bradford the kid is making plays. The Lions are playing people a lot tougher this year and the Chiefs are undefeated.

The gap has narrowed this year between the good and bad teams. I believe the game yesterday against San Fran will pay dividends for us down the road.

Winning on the road is rarely easy. Plus Cleveland is going to be injected with enthusiasm and confidence from the win over the Bengals.

It's not going to be an easy game, it's going to be a serious brawl.

RE: Uh-Oh....Bad News About Cleveland
The O-line seems to feast on more athletic interior fronts. We had little trouble from Sedrick Ellis and the saints. But when you get those Buffet busters in front they fail to get a good push have no chance of getting to the next level and multiple LBs can flow freely into run gaps Ovie cannot get to them all.

Not sure if it is a talent issue or an effort problem but I am sure Smitty and the group are looking for more consistency.

Running Multiple TE sets helped a little yesterday with Finn and Gonzo which helped us get outside, maybe that's how we are going to have to attack 3-4s but going outside makes me wish Norwood was around maybe Smith can get a few touches and pop one. Hopefully they are coming down from a big division win and we can jump on them early.

That's a really good point.

Maybe they'll be suffering from some of the same hangover that we (and the Taints) suffered from yesterday.

RE: Uh-Oh....Bad News About Cleveland
We should by all rights be 2-2 on the season, but due
to whatever or however you want to name it
we are 3-1.

We will be facing a better Coached (disciplined) Team in Cleveland,
and expect NO Gifts, No last minute Heroics.

Do Expect Shaun Rogers to Batter our O Line.
This one is going to be a Back Alley Brawl.

Cleveland beating the Bengals was probably a good thing for us. At least we won't overlook them thinking they are a winless team... but it's still going to be a tough one.

GEAUX Falcons!!!!

RE: Uh-Oh....Bad News About Cleveland
The Bengals aren't nearly as good as everyone thinks they are, just like the 49ers aren't nearly as bad as everyone thinks they are. I'm more confident in this game then I was in the 49ers one. It is on the road, but Cleveland is due for a let down after a tough division battle. Wonder if the Ragin Cajun will finally come back from injury which could provide another wrinkle to the game. Got to stop Hillis from getting his motor going because he seems to be on a really hot streak right now. Their WR's don't scare me too much but Massoquoi does have big play potential.

They have played 3 tight games, but I'm not sure how because on both sides of the ball they are in the bottom half of the league in nearly every single category. The fact that 2 of their games were against division opponents might explain why they were close games because those division games somehow always find a way to turn into grind it out games. Offense should be able to move the ball in the air and on the ground. Defense will have the opportunity to make plays. I think Atlanta takes this one by 10+

RE: Uh-Oh....Bad News About Cleveland
In both pre season and the regular season thus far Ryan has faced maybe four 3-4 defenses. He'll get used to it.
