RE: UFA WR that Falcons need to sign - exactly what we need...Legedu Naane-Chargers
I really like Jenkins being that reliable possession receiver guy. He may have dropped some doozie's in the past, but he was freaking clutch as hell this year. What we need are a couple 4.2x-3x guys who can just blow by CB's & force CB's & safeties to turn their backs & go at least 20+ yards deep or much further. And I know they don't HAVE to be ultra-speedsters like that, but it certainly can't hurt if they are.
I can't imagine if we had Roddy, Kyle Rudolph, HD in the slot, some 4.2x guy next to him & another 4.2x guy next to him in 5-receiver sets. That's some insane speed to help spread the field out. |

I actually like Michael Jenkins but would rather see him split time more as the #2 - in other words, he can still play #2 but not all the snaps at that position. This is what I would like to see: #1 WR - Roddy White ('nuff said) #2 WR - Michael Jenkins / Legedu Naane #3 WR - Legedu Naane/ Jerrnel Jernigan #4 WR - Harry Douglas/Kerry Meier #5 WR/ST Ace - Eric Weems Naane is the tall guy with speed who can get open deep, go up high to get a ball and make the occasinal big play - Jenkins cannot do that. Jernigan is a freaking Desean Jackson clone - just an explosion of speed who can take it the distance every time he touches the ball. Jernigan would be our 2nd round draft pick - 5'9", 190lb guy that runs a projected 4.32/40 - faster than greased lightnin... Harry Douglas and Kerry Meier can battle it out for the last spot in the WR corp. Suddenly the Falcons would have plenty of playmakers in the passing game to complement Roddy White.....Teams that doubled Roddy would pay for it and Matt Ryan could start loosening up his arm as there would be a lot more WRs running free in the defensive backfield. |

I couldn't agree more with your beliefs. I love the Jernigan kid too. I think Titus Young & Vincent Brown, who are also both 4.3 guys & would be available in the 3rd round could also be options IN ADDITION to Jernigan (or Torrey Smith if he's still there) in the 2nd round. I'd rather leave Weems as strictly the ST returner. And don't forget, with the 18 game season they will also be expanding the roster limits, so it wouldn't be out of the question to have 8 receivers, one being ST only. |

Well....maybe. Doesn't mean it wouldn't go a lot further towards helping the Falcons make the Super Bowl than picking up a guy whose entire career basically amounts to a average Michael Jenkins season. |

It just does not make sense at all...... As far as Naane vs. Jenkins - they really are not the same type of player. You may argue that the results have been similiar - but fact of the matter is that Jenkins has seen the field and gotten way more opportunities than Michael Jenkins. Also, Jenkins does not have the speed of Naane. Your characterization above makes it sound like Naane and Jenkins are the same "type" of player - that is really not the case in my observation. of course, we are allowed to have differing opinions... |

RE: UFA WR that Falcons need to sign - exactly what we need...Legedu Naane-Chargers
My second or third round pick...
![]() Leonard Hankerson Miami (FL) (HT: 6-1⅝ - WT: 205) Position Rank: 7 of 50 Positives: Good size and speed combination, expected to run the 40 yard dash in the 4.50 range... Catches the ball with his hands and his arms extended... Will make the acrobatic catch, has above-average body control... Good route runner, very crafty... Has received great coaching, high school position coach was former NFL great Cris Carter at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida... Great leaping ability, can out jump defenders to the football... Consistent production, had four or more catches in 11 of 13 games this year... His 13 touchdown catches this year set a single season school record at Miami (FL)... Hard worker, a high character player... Always working in the offseason to improve his game, worked last year with former NFL wide receiver Mark Duper... A viable deep threat, averaged 17.8 yards per catch in 2009 and 16.1 yards per catch in 2010... Has gotten better every year, should continue into the NFL. Negatives: Drops too many easy passes, has lapses in concentration... Looks up field before securing the football... Lack of focus will drive coaches crazy... Lacks suddenness in his game, more of a straight line runner.. Not a great runner after the catch... Takes him awhile to get to full speed... Has received many Braylon Edwards comparisons for his knack for making a big play then dropping a sure catch the next time the ball is thrown to him.

I was saying that Naane's career production, for his entire career.....amounts to about that of one Michael Jenkins season. And I happen to think that Michael Jenkins sucks. There is no reason to think that Naane is a guy that will help this team. The guy is fast, and by the way so is Jenkins, but he is as stiff as a board. |

I think he's more of upgrade than Naane but he will also be more expensive and sought after. Also, I would think the Packers will do their best to retain him...What say you on Jones? |
