Turn Out the Lights
For those old enough to remember Dandy Don, he has died. With Howard and Frank they were a great MNF group to grow up with.

He used to sing "Turn out the lights the party is over" when a game was out of hand.

RE: Turn Out the Lights
I never really understood why they scheduled football games on Monday night. But it worked.

I was telling my coworkers about this and no one knew who he was. They are either too young or female. I thought that one of the females may have recognized him from the Lipton commercials, but I guess not.

I used to like Howard and his boxing calls.

It would be fitting if tonight one of the broadcasters suddenly breaks into "Turn out the lights"..... Off key of courseBig Grin

yeah that would be sweet, i remember a monday night game on halloween one year and the camera's picked up some people in the stands with masks on of gifford, cosell and 'dandy don'... it was hilarious the jabs they were throwing at each other. a true class guy, a great player and announcer, thoughts and prayers to the family

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: Turn Out the Lights
Howard Cosell was the first announcer to refer to a "Tertiary receiver". The repartie between Dandy Don and "Howad" were were greatly entertaining!

Frank Gifford, the play by play guy, was like a referee. Monday night was famous!

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

I was thinking about that today when I heard the news pauli....Hank was pissed at Don for not taking the throwing the football contest serious enough. It was pretty funny and had a good message about hero worship wrapped in there.

R.I.P. Don....Thanks for making the NFL a good bit more fun.
