Top 5 Falcon moments 2010 - Pete Prisco
Feb. 08, 2011 5:40 p.m. - Top five moments this season. No. 1: With 49ers CB Nate Clements intercepting QB Matt Ryan, Week 4’s game seemed wrapped up. But WR Roddy White ran him down, forced a fumble and RG Harvey Dahl recovered. This led to Atlanta kicking a game-winning field goal. Falcons RapidReports

Feb. 08, 2011 5:40 p.m. - Top five moments this season. No. 2: Atlanta destroying Carolina in the season finale to clinch the NFC’s No. 1 seed was no shocker. But RB Michael Turner and WR Roddy White dumping Gatorade on owner Arthur Blank’s high-priced suit was nothing short of priceless. Falcons RapidReports

Feb. 08, 2011 5:39 p.m. - Top five moments this season. No. 3: Atlanta’s first national audience showing was in Week 10 against Baltimore. Down 21-20 with little time left, QB Matt Ryan rolled left and hit WR Roddy White in stride. White brushed a defender off and scored the game-winning touchdown. Falcons RapidReports

Feb. 08, 2011 5:39 p.m. - Top five moments this season. No. 4: Down 24-14 in the fourth quarter to Tampa Bay in Week 13, WR/KR Eric Weems resurrected Atlanta with a 102-yard kickoff return touchdown. Atlanta seemed out of the contest, only for Weems to ignite the comeback. Atlanta won 28-24. Falcons RapidReports

Feb. 08, 2011 5:38 p.m. - Top five moments this season. No. 5: All Saints K Garrett Hartley had to do was make a 29-yard chip shot to beat Atlanta in OT in Week 3. He missed. This allowed K Matt Bryant to kick a 46-yard game-winning field goal to defeat the Falcons’ rival. Falcons RapidReports

That is some top-caliber, excellent football right there. I saw every moment of it. That's an elite team, and I'm proud of it. If you are reading this and you can't see that, then you're just blinded by your disappointment and not thinking straight. I understand. But it is getting close to time to put that behind you, stop grieving, and appreciate the never-say-die, Winner of a team we have.

Sort of tough to keep Bierman's 'Superman' picksix off the list. And Bryant's game winner against the Packers was a nice moment.

But I guess my only problem with the list is that it should be top ten rather than top five.

Here's a thought. If Weems doesn't make that play, and the Falcons lose but the rest of the season plays out as it did, TB makes the playoffs and GB doesn't (I think). With that in mind, are we as happy now about Weems return as we were then? Would you give away that game to get a different playoff scenario, even if it cost the first round-bye and perhaps gave the Saints the division championship?

I know I would.

There's no knowing if we would have survived playing in the first round against Seattle. The Saints didn't.

I think that Weems's return in the playoffs was more costly. Our defense did not need another 8 minute drive immediately after the first one.

Those are both good points, especially the second. Still, mine was an 'If you knew then what you know now' kind of question, so I'd definitely take my chances on the road in Seattle.
