Tonight, Ich Bin Ein SEAHAWK
OFFICIAL SEAHAWKS/RAMS THREAD

The record of teams the week AFTER traveling more than 2000 miles to Seattle is sort of incredible.

Remember the surprising upset the Cowboys pulled off against the Giants in N.Y. this year? The Cowboys had been struggling and the Giants were on a ROLL. Guess where the Giants played the week before?

And, of course, on Monday Night we lost to the Saints when favored after our Seattle trip.

This year, east coast teams are 0-3 after playing in Seattle.

In 2009, the exceptions actually prove the rule. East Coast Teams were 2-0 with both wins in OVERTIME. First, the 7-9 Jaguars needed overtime to beat the (soon to be graced with Sam Bradford) 1-15 Rams, in Jacksonville. The other exception was Tampa's O.T. win in New Orleans . . . in week 16 (Tampa was starting to come around and the Saints had clinched HFA and were resting everyone!)

In 2008, east coast teams were 0-4 playing AT HOME after traveling to Seattle.

Dang. Good thing that the Saints aren't an east coast team. Oh, and the Saints didn't rest players last year until week 17 against the Panthers. Tampa Bay simply up and beat us after taking out Seattle at Seattle. Good thing the Vikings lost in week 16, too.

Um. Then what exactly was the meaning of the thread? Only one team can travel to Seattle, that being the Saints. I'm confused. I guess you were just pointing out a fact that really didn't have a connection to this year's playoff, but is very interesting nonetheless.

I think the OP is assuming that we will play the Saints in the Divisional round of the playoffs after they had to travel to and from Seattle. I like those odds if that is what winds up happening.

That's what I thought, too. I had just posted that New Orleans is not an east coast team so those facts didn't apply.

That said, I doubt the Seahawks beat the Rams. Seattle is in shambles right now. They have dropped 7 of 9 and can't stop anything. More likely than not the Saints while take a short flight straight up to St. Louis.

While New Orleans is obviously not an east coast team, it still falls under the 2000 mile trip criteria that the OP had presented.

That being said, I agree that the Rams will win tonight. Clipboard Jesus is not leading the 'Hawks to the playoffs. Also, do you really think the NFL is going to allow a 7-9 team to make the playoffs. Look for some really questionable spots and calls tonight.

I know, HD. I was just confused about what the post was about. Sorry.

I have to disagree with you there. The does not dictate outcomes, as much as we as fans would like to believe it. That is an easy excuse, but in no way any where near fact.
