While I love when we get out to a big lead, we become flat and "lazy" and let teams back in. I think that falls on Smith. I don't want him fired. That thought hasn't crossed my mind yet and probably won't. But Smith does need reevaluate how to approach the game when we get out to a lead. We need a killer instinct and just put teams away. If you let a team score, they get confidence. Your defenses loses some confidence. Next drive, the other team scores again. Your offense has a three and out. Your defense is tired and gives up another score. This has happened HOW many times under Smith. It's unacceptable. It falls on Smith.

As for the defense, we still need a beefy, strong, penetrating, strong at the point of attack NT. Our current DTs get washed out on run plays and we get gashed too much up the middle. We also suck when the RB cuts to the outside because no one is usually there. Need to have better gap integrity. We also need another pass rushing DE because Biermann is more a "utility guy" and not a true pass rusher. And Abe isn't getting younger. I also think we need to cut Dunta because he sucks in coverage and is just isn't quick enough to defend the slants and quicker routes. Put McClain and Asante out there and find a nickel CB.

For offense, it's simple. OL. OL. OL. Move Konz to center and get a RG. A true RG. Not an undersized C converted to RG.
