I'd call 7 catches for 90 yards and a TD stepping up. That would have been Jenks' Week 16 stat line had Tracy Porter not been hanging on his back all night.

I don't see how anybody could argue that WR is not the weakest position on the team - outside of Roddy White.

If you had a number 2 reciever, who after 15 games, had 80 catches, 929 yards, and 6 TDs....you'd say "well that is a damn good number 2 WR, he is really getting it done".

Now..if you have a number 2 and number 3 WR, who after 15 games have the same numbers, you'd say "well......maybe we need some help".

Buf if those numbers constitute your number 2, 3, 4, and 5 receivers, then you it becomes obvious that is an area you need in improvement in, esepecially when you are throwin the ball 37 times a game.

Jenkins, Douglas, Weems, and Finneran have damn good numbers....if they were one person.

I've never been much of a Jenkins fan, I think we can do better. I'd take Lance Moore over him and he went undrafted.

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that their reception/yardage totals are no worse than any other group of 2, 3, 4 & 5 WRs who play on a team that employs a TE or RB as their secondary receiving option - a la the Pats or Ravens. Do you really think those teams are where they are at because Deion Branch and Derrick Mason are hauling in more catches per game than Michael Jenkins?

The bottom line is if Turner doesn't fumble last night, then this discussion would be all about how Jenks' ownage of Tracy Porter while stepping up for an ineffective Roddy was crucial in securing a hard fought victory against a really good team.

Jenkins can run a fly pattern, I'll give you that.

Your point about the TE being the number 2 option would be a good point if the Falcons were getting superior TE production. I bet the Falcons aren't even in the top half of the league in TE yardage production.

I mean.....you are right about one thing. The Patriots are kicking ass because they are getting unbelievable production for a pair of rookie TEs.

But we don't have a pair of stud TEs.

So....we need some more playmaking WRs.

Agree to disagree. Personally, I think that if Jenkins and maybe even Douglass got as many looks as Gonzo does, the playmaking WR that you are looking for would emerge. Gonzo has zero YAC ability at this point in his career, yet he is stubbornly being targeted as if he did.
