Think Before You Give Somebody a Negative Rep

Ok, want to go over something with folks.

On that other board, negging is anonymous. Here, it's not.

It's very likely that you give somebody a neg here, they are going to slap one back on you. Maybe two...or three.

And then it goes back and forth a and then next thing you know you both hate each other and you both have negative reps.

The admins have had to sort out a number of these neg wars since the sight started, and frankly, it's just silly and feels a little bit like baby sitting.

So.....if I were all of you, I'd only use the neg button if I felt so strongly about something that I was willing to take a hit to my own rep...because that is almost certainly what is going to happen.

And another thing.......I am not going to be the one to try and decide what is a good reason and what isn't a good reason for someone giving a neg......don't send me messages asking me to sort that out.

If the other admins want to wrestle with that.....well you can take up with them. I'm not doing it.

I've mentioned a few times that I think it is absolutely silly to watch two people sit around and drop 10+ negs on each other for no post in particular simply because one is butt hurt over the other. Not that I care about rep, but you notice that there "issues" start to carry over into other threads.

BTW Peyton, it is "since the SITE starter." We've all had perfectly fine vision well before we signed up here.

If it were up to me, there would even be the ability to give negs on this site. I think it would be a much better system if only positive rep points existed.

I might be the only admin that feels that way though.

Peyton, one great thing you have done is make the rules crystal clear. This board is different because the "Ryan sucks" troll threads with 10+ pages of venom will not be tolerated here.

I think I have negged one time, a poster who was soon banned.

You have to understand the conditition. I am sitting there reading, I see that, and it is like I slam into a mental wall at 80 mph. I try to recover and keep going, but I just keep revving the engine and the tires are spinning, but I am still just driving into a wall.
