There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season

RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season
Honestly, this season will be defined by what follows in subsequent seasons.

If the Falcons were to rebound and win the first of multiple championships next year, this season would be remembered as "The Wake Up Call."

If we were to suffer another humiliating postseason collapse or miss the playoffs entirely next year, it would be recalled as "The Beginning of the End."

It's just too early to make sense of it all at this point.

Yeah, I agree with that.

Cowboys fans certainly remember the 91 season in which they lost 38-6 to the Lions in the playoffs as part of their building process. If they hadn't won back to back Super Bowls in 92 and 93, they would probably remember that season quite differently.

If the Falcons go backwards next year, not in record but in direction, it would probably even change the way I feel about this year.

I was actually trying to do the opposite, point out that the team was better than the sum of it's parts.

That's how I took it. What others call overachieving I call the staff maximizing talent. This is a big reason for excitement going forward. I mean does anyone expect that if we have more talent that the staff will somehow squander it? Because that hasn't been the history of this regime.

Didn't I read that this regime in three years has not lost to a team that ended up with a losing record? I haven't researched it but if that's true that is about as far from frauds or posers as you can get. To me that means exactly that we have a sound team that just needs some more talent to be able to beat the better teams more consistently.

RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season
To be honest I was so emotionally invested in "My" Falcons that I'm kind of numb. I tried to watch the games today but I couldn't get into it so I just channel flipped.

Our defense was just taken apart by the Packers passing game and we had no answer. They were just the better team.

Now the rest of the way I only care about the drinks and party food.

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

This is a great thread with some funny and informative stuff too. Maybe the guy who said 13 wins won't matter anymore is right. 14 wins in 1998 doesn't matter anymore.

And I also had no interest in the games today.

Did we get burned out?

I don't know. So many questions after a loss like that and we all have different opinions.

Some can and will say that they were just a better team, but I don't buy that they were that much better than us and the butt kicking was inexcusable and spoke to some issues...whatever they may be.

Where we arrogant? I mean, were we believing that we were clearly the best and after a week of rest we'd be able to handle the Packers. There was talk of how physical we were with them last game (Ovie) and how they didn't think GB wanted to face that physicality again.

I don't know...but I do know even a month or so down the line when I think about this season, the performance last night is still gonna be tough to swallow and hard to make sense of.

I don't believe the "real" Falcons was the team that showed against Green Bay. We're going to continue to be a team that is good enough to win 12+ games a year, but there are some issues that need to be addressed. Our defense needs to be solidified and our offense needs more speed. As always, look to make a better offensive line.
