The TRUTH Mularky vs Vangorder
If the Falcons don't fix the O-Line they are going to ruin Matt Ryan. I guarantee if you switched Manning and Ryan for one season Manning numbers would plummet while his sacks skyrocketed and Ryan would go to the pro-bowl.
1) Our O-Line sucks in pass protection and negates all of our talent in the skilled positions. 2) What Ryan could do if he could stand tall in the pocket and make a couple of reads. Now it's almost a pre-snap decision due to our pass protection which by the way takes away the deep ball. It's a domino effect and I'm convinced Mularkey's play calling is based mostly due to a below average O-line. I wish we would have spent Robinson's money on a top tier O-lineman because this is the source of our offensive problems. Building through the draft is fine but every one just gets older and it's sad that we couldn't have a great O-line to go with all of our current weapons. Switching to our D, I thought we over paid for Robinson so we could Blitz more. So Kolb drops back to pass in his own end zone (if i remember correctly) and I see Abe drop back in pass coverage REALLY ? BVG REALLY ? I literally spewed my beer and my wife asked what's wrong ? Watching the opposing QB's is just sickening Fox did a close up on one Kolb's many passing plays and I watched him read his progressions not once, not twice, but three times. Until we have a stable O-line that can pass protect and can utilize our weapons continue to see the dink and dunk pass plays. Until BVG starts blitzing expect the CB"s to play off the receiver in almost a prevent like D and we get carved up underneath. Then when we do go man to man or a cover 2 again no pass rush then BOOM 80 yrds TD. How can we expect to go anywhere in the playoffs when one coordinator is limited by his line and the other coordinator won't use his line. We need players on our O-line and a new defensive coordinator for our D-line, end of story.

RE: The TRUTH Mularky vs Vangorder
You act as if BVG hasn't been blitzing all season.
Our offensive line does need a major upgrade though. Their play has been unacceptable this year, especially from Baker. |

He rarely blitzes in the right situations with Robinson and Grimes and the level of play in our safeties he's not doing it nearly enough. Do I need to remind you of yesterday with Kolb in the end zone we drop Abe back in coverage. Vangorder needs to go period.

RE: The TRUTH Mularky vs Vangorder
its the zone blitzing on D that really gets me. dropping the DE into coverage and bringing a LB instead is fine and a good thing if it's a surprise. but we seem to do it a bit. it will not work if you use it in that way.
please correct me if i'm wrong on this, but didn't we have kroy trying to cover the running back when we gave up that touchdown against the browns? it was a sweet catch, but the DE should never have to find himself in that position. Dublin Rebels #35 |

We blitz more than half the teams in the league, throwing out one example where a zone blitz play didn't work out and saying he should be fired is ridiculous at best. |

RE: The TRUTH Mularky vs Vangorder
I have gotten a hate towards Mularkey because of how bad his play calling has been lately.
Sucking balls, is saying it nicely.

RE: The TRUTH Mularky vs Vangorder
If one of the coordinators are gone after the season, I can GUARANTEE that it is NOT going to be BVG.
The guy got an extension in the off season. Guess who didn't? Yeah, it's Mike freakin Mularkey. I am not gonna be surprised if he is relived of his duties as OC and is forced to find a job elsewhere... I will be so happy if that happens, and if it doesn't, I am going to question the hell out of the front office... Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.

RE: The TRUTH Mularky vs Vangorder
I'm not calling for him to be fired, I just don't like the zone blitzing. Not much of a fan of it in general.
Aside from that, I actually think bvg is doing a good job. I think there's been a big improvement on the D, scheme players and performance, and he as the coach is a big part of that. That's my view on the D anyway, as for the O, something is not fully right somewhere. I'm not sure what it is exactly but I think it could well be more than a bad lineman or wr as some simplify it to. Dublin Rebels #35 |
