The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me

RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me
While I thought it was gay that he lost his position, you are ultimately going to have to follow the word from the bossman if you want to keep getting paid for your work. He decided that he didn't want to follow the change in direction, so he was cut. I still think the Hickr'y Stick award should stand though, and I saw it as belonging more to the community rather than from Supes.

I'm not too bitter about it, I just don't understand their reasoning behind it.

My point being, my lack of sympathy for the situation and disgust with everybody's reaction to it wouldn't be well received here (nor there), and I would be negged, labeled as a hater or a troll, and told to keep my opinion to myself (though it's ok to express your opinion of anger at what happened). So . . . yeah.

I'm kinda in the same boat, really. I feel bad for Supes and don't wanna sound cold, but this stuff just happens all the time when you are doing any kind of contracted work with anyone. And it usually only takes one person to not like it.

I mean I saw people post about nearly being in tears about it. I think it's time to get a grip if you are that tore up inside. I mean, he's free to still post stuff, it's just not paid for or endorsed by the Falcons.

I agreed with Rev Hal actually, turn it down a notch.

I'm still debating on posting my feelings on (namely how sick of hearing about it I am) the "supes saga." I have a feeling I would get negged.
Don't you dare steal him from my other board Tongue

No shit. It was like someone killed their dog or something. I didn't like it, but the level of anger over it was kinda ridiculous. I can think of 1000 other things to get upset about over this, and probably only about 10-20 things that deserve the kinda reaction some people gave.

I think the lame PC/wuss/hypocritical reasoning was what magnified the reaction. You know, stuff like being told that Stone Mointain is a symbol of slavery and all the other pussified horse shit that has no business being anywhere near a football team. Stuff like that is going to cause a reaction.

These are Falcon fans that we're talking about.

RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me
I wasn't in tears over it, and whoever said that really needs to get a life. Unfair stuff happens to us everyday in our real lives and we deal with it. However, we don't have to be all emotional to call the AFMB out on the bullshit they are doing. It's just a bad thing to do. If this was the only thing that happened it wouldn't be so big, but it's clear they have a pretty big disconnect with the fans. Dan's responses in that thread don't help either. I've said my SMALL piece on it because I am positive Dan or anybody that makes decisions isn't reading any of those long, "Mr. Levak" letters I keep seeing in that thread.

RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me
Let me lay the groundwork for all of you what this situation concerning Supes is really all about:

First of all, in the interest of fairness and disclosure I have to say that Supes is one of my best friends. I watch virtually every Falcon game over at his place on Lake Lanier. Dude is straight up a really good guy. One of those people who literally would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.

Also, and I think Supes would agree with this, I have been somewhat of a mentor to him as far as helping him improve his art. He was already really good when I met him, but he needed help making his work digital, so I tutored him in that area....giving him Photoshop lessons, helping him with a Wacom tablet, etc....Picked it up quickly.

He constantly got mixed messages from the Falcon brass. The Stone Mountain cartoon is a perfect example. Certain people within the organization encouraged him to do the piece and even told Supes that he could personally present the piece to Coach Smith. He does the piece, then that shitbag Levak starts the Politically Correct bullshit and says the Falcons don't want anything to do with it.

Some of you guys are kind of missing the point about the anger over at the OMB.....

It's not about Supes or his cartoons. At the end of the day it's not even about The Hickory Stick Award....

It's about the suits at Flowery Branch not having a freaking clue about this fan base. It's about continually being tone deaf to the wants and concerns of the people who support the product you're trying to sell.

Supporting Supes' cartoons and The Hickory Stick Award made a lot of people feel like they were a part of this organization and closer to the players. It's very disillusioning to find out that's a mirage.

That's the bigger picture.

RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me
Here's my reply in Levak's thread on the OMB. Just in case they delete it over there.

Quote:Does it matter at all that he's right?

Or that you just ended the contract of a guy who drew a funny cartoon over PC concerns while you let a guy who posted a "joke" about Jews in ovens post here to this day even though his post was reported multiple times?

No, it probably doesn't.

This place is a joke.
