RE: The QB throw...
Really though, there's countless variations to the style. Matt's left arm looks a little akward and tight, but whatever works for him. I never got the "#4" thing either, maybe it is just the tension of it or whatever. Anything is better than Joey Harrington's faggy "hiii I'm thuper fabulous" left arm positioning.

Sprta what i was thinking.. like when Jordan used to stick his tongue out.. Sorta off subject, but sorta not...I remember in baseball a few years ago some pitcher was tipping his pitches cause he was changing his facial expression when throwing a curveball.. |

Im sure the arm is tucked for a few reasons. 1. Protection from a hit. 2. Tucked arm would prevent unintential lateral movement. 3. Something dealing with keeping the arm away from defenders.

You are supposed to keep your left arm in tight for numerous reaseason, but the way he carries his hand up is somewhat odd. Watch Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, and Tom Brady throw, they all held their arm lower like they were going to put their left hand on their side/across their stomach. Here's a video that has a few good shots of Manning's throwing motion at about 0:38 in. A tribute video that has an excellent slow-mo shot of Brady's motion at about 0:26. A highlight video that has a good shot of Dan Marino's freakish release speed and motion at about 0:09. (Seriously, most likely the fastest release ever on a QB) |
