That Horse Collar On The Opening Kickoff
I know it's meaningless or what not, but was that not one of the weakest horse collar calls you have ever seen?

Troy P got away with one on Tony G later in the game.

It's all relative in Pittsburgh.

RE: That Horse Collar On The Opening Kickoff
Considering they missed one that was blatently obvious and twice as bad on Gonzo later in the game, yeah it pissed me off.

That said, our freaking rookie kicker shouldn't have had to even be put in that situation to begin with. It was horrible ST coverage.

RE: That Horse Collar On The Opening Kickoff
I wonder if kicking shallow becomes a good plan this year. The coverage team has less ground to run and it could lead to short returns before the 20 with better coverage.

this..

arguing about penalties in a pre season game is kind of useless imo

I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 .

RE: That Horse Collar On The Opening Kickoff
I didn't get to see the game due to power outages because of the Hurricane. I've only seen highlights and a little bit of the replay on NFLN, but I was appalled by that horse collar call. It wasn't even close to a HC. I'm not saying it wasn't horrible ST coverage because it was, and the kicker should never be in that situation, but if he is put in that situation (like he was), I think that was a clean tackle and a hell of an effort on his part.

It was a horse collar in the same way a go kart is a car. WEAK! Not brought down form the back of the shoulder pads. Not pulled down backwards like a horse collar. Any contact with that area was incidental.

On our last drive of the half. Ryan throws an out to TG on the sidelines. The pass is high and goes right through his fingertips. Timmons is right behind and it is obvious that the pass is incomplete, but he still lowers his shoulder and nails TG in the back sending him out of bounds. These kinds of cheap shots they were pulling off all night.

I live outside of Atlanta, and dropped $10 on NFL.com to catch the final two preseason games, and the connection was garbage. I couldn't read player names or anything. Tried resetting over half time and couldn't log back in for a hot minute. So I missed anything that couldn't be seen on the worst possible internet connection... I think NFL.com got overloaded.

So, missed the cheap shots, and the announcers were Pitt homers, so they weren't going to call them out.
