Gonzo is very very valuable, thats why i am saying the tight end we get must be valuable early because that is a position in our offense that produces and allows for a lot. As of right now my choices would be Gonzo/ Faruia/ Eifert or an FA signing (know nfl speed and the game already). its one hell of a piece we are losing whenever he does go and we will need at least one tight end as a receiving threat. i dont believe Michael Palmer is that guy. would be great if he is and has been learning to be the the best Tight End he can be. Despite the pass catching tight end explosion Fleener did not go until round 2. This years class is deeper and better with the top 3 Tight Ends being big and explosive Gronkowski like guys, there is no way we can't have a shot at one. For this O to dominate we are going to need one.

We are in a position to get a Julio Jones level talent at the Tight end spot without moving up. Fauria, 8 tds? on so few touches' i think he jumps eifert

I love Tony G as much as the next guy but there are two things Tony is lacking in. One because of age and the other because thats just not his game.

Run Blocking - Tony comes thru at times so he's not horrible but he isn't great.

Seam routes - Because of his age he doesn't have the
speed to bust the seams and the new TE if we were to get one should add that element to our offense that defense haven't seen before regularly.

Side note: Tony runs seam routes seemingly only in the red zone.

That's because he's never had a decent QB. It's amazing some of the things he did with shit for QBs. You can't judge him off stats. But he can block and catch and is very athletic.

Dude can play. We should be able to snag him in the 3rd or 4th round. He would explode with a QB like Ryan throwing him the ball. This video isn't the best quality but look at this catch.

I agree the guy can block but I prefer Fauria's skill set out of all of them. Even though Eifert is ranked hire. Remember they were both at Notre Dame. Lutz comes across a bit clumsy to me he is easy to get off balance/ off his feet a lot when blocking. We need someone who can run routes up the seam from anywhere and build a receiving repertoire across the field. That instantly provides an element we don't really have in Tony at any kind of sudden pace. I could live with Lutz if the staff chose him but would much rather Fauria. That's a pro ready tight end.

I think getting Lutz in the 3rd or 4th round would be a better value than spending a 1st or 2nd round pick on a TE.

I agree. You are not going to come close to replacing Gonzo and using a very high pick would be a waste. Players like Gonzo are once in a decade or more at there position. Chances are the dozen or so TE's drafted this coming year are going to be as average on the whole as those drafted any other year ... regardless of round.

Our team survived a 5 INT game... Brees and company did not. Key word is TEAM

One point....never drops a ball? he dropped one in the Saints game (the first one....that may have ultimately been the extra play we needed...) Not slamming him...it wasn't an easy catch and he had already more than done his part in that game....I just love the guy...he is so rock solid...I questioned the 2nd round pick we gave for him at first....which is why TD and not me is the GM...lol.....

Gonzo is not irreplacable but he always seems to give the team that extra boost....we shall see what he decides...I myself am torn....if/when the Falcons win the Superbowl I could easily see him hanging up the cleats....if we get to the championship game but don't make it....who knows...I will still go for the ring....but you know what I mean....

Someone likely said the same thing about Gonzo once, that he wasn't worth the pick. That's what the scouting is for. I think whoever gets Eifert or Fauria us drafting one of the best Tight Ends to come out since Gonzo and Gates.

I'm watching video if Fauria and I see them placing a 250+ 6ft 6 guy out on the flank to run routes. I'm seeing triple coverage and he is still rising up over the coverage. That's a guy who I see as a problem much like Graham is to other NFC teams. Too big for corners and safeties, too athletic and agile for linebackers. The type of player you have to limit but can't stop.
