The guy is always there to make the play when needed. He never drops the ball. He can handle double coverage. He can block. I am hard pressed to name another player that is as important as Gonzo to your team right now. Sure, the obvious answer would be Ryan. Yes, his loss would be crippling, but I guess I am talking the most valuable complimentary player.

If you took Gonzo off your squad at the beginning of this season you very easily could have lost three or four more games. You wouldn't miss any other player to that extent as long as Gonzo was still there.

Be honest.

No doubt. The only argument that could be made is Roddy. Thankfully we haven't had either one out. On offense it's Ryan then Roddy/TG. Roddy does a lot of the same as TG just from the split end. But TG is an absolute rock not only on the field but in that locker room. All the guys on the team look up to him. I hope he plays for 3 more years lol

Who dat, the falcons they won the game, sending the saints to never never land.

As far as Gonzo, I would like to get him for one more year, if he wants to, if we get to the superbowl and win it, you know hes going to retire. That's a given If we don't, then Gonzo might stick around for another year. Of course the Saints will be back unless Sean Payton decides to go to Dallas, which I am hoping. Tongue

RE: TG....ONE MORE YEAR ONE MORE YEAR
cant help but think we will pick a TE and RB early in this draft we need to pick up boosts in the ground game, and get a TE whi is explosive, really want to get Eifert Ertz or ideally Fauria. who i think may be the best of the bunch for us. we will have a drop off at the position going from an Elite hall of fame talent to a new to the nfl talent. there will be a learning curve but we need to pick a player who is not a project. We are lucky that this class has around 5 tight ends who match that description. we must take one.

RE: TG....ONE MORE YEAR ONE MORE YEAR
More i look at them, i really want Eifert or Fauria, both of them are big red zone threats as well as field stretchers. Fauria is a more technical run blocker. Eifert is more violent. For such a big guy Fauria is athletic, we need a tight end like that to maintain our offensive potency. With Julio and Roddy on the outside we will see more coverage on them with Gonzo gone, this means whoever comes in must be dynamic enough to create and take advantage of mismatches. These two guys provide that. It is going to be so so important otherwise our offense is going to take massive steps backwards. Harry is not reliable enough to receive the lion share of these targets that come free. I really think we should draft the tight end as the cost wont be as high as signing a free agent. Also the tight ends likely to hit the market to me aren't as good as some of the ones coming from the draft.

Gonzalez is currently 327 catches short of Jerry Rice's record. Let him play 1 more year and get that record and the touchdown record. Smile The best receiving season known to man. Big Grin

Philip Lutzenkirchen from Auburn! And I'm not just being a homer. He can play!

I looked over Lutz, I'm not to sure about him. He looks more like a project tight end rather than a ready to go early on. He isn't as able as Fauria and Eifert at this point right now. He is more like a number two tight end at this point who could develop rather than a number one guy who needs to grow into and expand the role.

Not a classy comment... TG is an important player... one of many!

Your post tries to imply that he is the only reason for our success.

No, I explained that earlier. I have watched almost every snap of your games this season and Gonzo more than any other player made critical plays in tight games. You did without Julio. You have had Roddy shut down or limited, but Gonzo ALWAYS comes through. I honestly believe that he meant at least three wins over your next bset option at TE. I don't feel that any other individual player outside of Ryan that near had that much individual impact.
