TD and Smith Interview on 790 The Zone
TD Recap...

- TD is ready for FA and won't let the CBA situation hinder his decisions...
- He won't say whether he WILL get an impact FA, or go heavy draft this offseason. Basically, he won't tip his cap...
- We need to ramp up the pass rush. Need production from Biermann and other guys. He liked the pressures from Biermann and other guys so he thinks we're close..
- We NEED to be more explosive on offense. Said we may need to add explosive pieces to the offense...
- We need to attack every portion of the field(middle, left, right) on offense..
- TD wants to get HD the ball and get him more involved(mentioned a role similar to Welker in NE)
- If we need a OC, it will be Smith's call on who will be that guy...
- TD likes the WR and DL class in this draft...
- Do NOT pull the plug on Peria Jerry. It was a significant knee injury. TD ADMITTED that the Falcons down played his injury. They are expecting big things next year from him..

Smith Recap

-Didn't like the way season ended. Played poorly, coached poorly in playoffs. Not making excuses for the loss...
-Frustrating that we couldn't wrap up Rodgers for the sack...
-It's a QB driven league and a pass rush is essential...
-We wanted to win the turnover battle, and be the least penalized team(on ST and the fourth quarter). Also wanted to control the clock....
-He said we're gonna learn from the playoff loss...
-We have weapons on offense, but we need to BE MORE EXPLOSIVE in the run game AND the pass game...
- He liked the 3rd down efficiency on offense but we need to improve on that on defense...
-Smitty has no agent....
-Everyone's gotta get better this offseason, and we gotta progress...
- Pro Bowl was a fun experience, but he said it would nice not to go back...

Pretty typical Coach Smith interview, but the "explosive" part really jumped out to me

[Image: 2menybt.jpg] Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.

RE: TD Interview on 790 The Zone
Falcons down played the Jerry injury ...but I got killed when I said that on AFMB. ...hmmmm..I dont think Jerry will have a huge impact and we have potential at his postion with other guys such as Peters

I think TD backs off Free agency with the money he spent on Dunta and the complete and utter failure that was hope he rebounds if not that will be a huge bust ..
I think were going to be in the middle market
I wouldnt be surprised one bit if we made a major move in draft and hop into top 10 or so

I 100% agree with TD ...Mularkey has to do a better job using the whole field. I feel we play on a shorten field everything to sidelines. We dont attack middle of field or exploit . We never run crossing routes . Its the same stop/out/dig routes ...

I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 .

We do a lot of out routes, but Roddy had some very big plays on crossing routes this season. The Bengals game comes to mind, there was a play that was schemed perfectly and it left Roddy wide open.

You said Jerry was done and the team had given up on him, and that he wouldn't even be seen during the season.

Where in that did you see a straight indictment of Mularkey? Reach harder.
