It came out of the blue, but that's ok.

Seems to me that the Falcons wanted to market Falco more to the mainstream public but couldnt with the way he has been portrayed as a violent character. I do applaud you for sticking to your guns against corporate bureacracy, and not letting "The Man" neuter Falco. But on the other hand if youre a big business, such as the Falcons, then you have to protect your image and interests and defend against potential litigation. In addition to defending the NFL brand.

For example: There is no way the Falcons could ever publish or endorse the pic of Falco wacking around those little (Redskin) indians around. There is just too much potential for lawsuits from the native american community.

I see both sides of this controversy, and both sides are right in defending their stance. It's too bad that no compromise was reached.

Yeah, but it didn't go down that way. You're forgetting that they just jumped up and fired him. He expressed some concerns and asked some questions. Rather than answering him or engaging in dialogue, they just told him to get the fuck out.

My way or the highway. And the attitude of "how dare you question us, you little pissant?"

They had a good thing, and they just threw it away like it was nothing.

You're right. I think I misread a post on the "other" board.

Although, that would make more sense than what seems to be the case.

You're missing several things, Jedi, but that's ok. Lots of other folks missed it too.

1. Falco was never "violent" in the true sense. He was just about smack, and doing the best he could to intimidate the opposition with his art. Many Falco cartoons involved no violence what so ever.

2. The Redskins cartoon. Ahhh, jeez! It was, if I do say so myself, one of my very best, but a couple of butt-hurt whiney asses took offense, e-mailed the front office, and the powers-that-be didn't have the stones to take my back. Here it is again. Judge for yourself once more, and I "officially" make no apologies for it:

I still love it for what it is,....a simple NFL smack-down cartoon. My uncle Joseph, who is half Cherokee, to this day still thinks it's my best effort ever. Anyone else that is offended can kiss my ass. Take some art lessons, learn how to draw, learn how to think and start cartooning!

3. AtlantaFalcons.com never intended to market either me or Falco. It was strictly for message board entertainment and they never promised me otherwise. Now they've fired me for not toeing the corporate line but that's ok. I died on that hill and my reward last night was some loving from my sweetie that was worth all the pain! Heart Smile

As falcon fan living in Virginia and dealing with skins fans constantly thinking they are the best team in the NFL, I have to say that that cartoon was the best one you did IMO.

I can't believe we live in such a watered down PC world that a CARTOON is considered "too violent" for a FOOTBALL team.

RE: Superfan's Cartoons Fired
The problem being that it was BIG in popularity and wasn't created in the Falcons PR department, so they were probably embarrassed that something from the outside was more popular than anything they created. In the end, they found a way to get rid of it and wait and see if a copy of Falco doesn't present itself soon marketed to children like Freddie.
