Superfan's Cartoons Fired

My good buddy Superfan has been unceremoniously fired by the Falcons. Fired because he wouldn't turn his character Falco into some giant pussy, Care Bear-hugging, neutered mascot....

Folks, I'm sad to tell you all this tonight, but me and Falco have come to a parting of the ways with the powers-that-be @ Flowery Branch. In a nut shell, we've been fired and no, I'm not kidding. It seems that my Falco SMACK type cartoons are no longer acceptable in today's politically correct environment and evidently a kinder, gentler NFL.

It started with last weeks Calvin @ Hobbs parody cartoon. Although it was well received on these boards, it wasn't so well taken down in Flowery Branch and I got an e-mail to that effect, stating basically that it was too violent in nature and they didn't want to see anymore cartoons like it. I was advised that "pop culture" themed cartoons was what they wanted now and while I'm still not sure what that means exactly, they did make it clear that they didn't want anymore "whack" in the "smack". Future efforts that may show Falco even shaking his stick at anyone or anything would be, at the very least, frowned upon if not downright declined. I took this to mean that even an old classic like "Here Kitty Kitty" would be suspect if it were a new cartoon today because it implies "violence". I asked them about that and the answer was "It would be ok, but not preferred."

They loved it last year, but the smack slant would no longer "preferred" today. That's how I understand it.

In further communications I stated my concerns, confusion and frustrations and was summarily terminated for "not being happy or content creating content within the parameters we've outlined". I have to agree. I wasn't gonna be happy with the direction I was being asked to go with my character, and I highly doubt y'all would have liked the "neutered" Falco either. The big bird is stubborn and proud and doesn't like being told what to do. That's just how he rolls.B)

The worst thing from all of this is that they no longer want to do the Hick'ry Stick Award anymore either. I don't understand THAT at all, but that's what I've been told and there's nothing I can do about it but offer a refund for the funds raised. Team Player 1, you gave $40.00 and you're owed a refund. PM me and I will take care of it. Anyone else that feels cheated, just PM me and I will take care of it. As far as the real Hick'ry Stick itself, I'm going to ask Jay Adams to just give it to Rowdy Roddy White for keeps. And BTW, people, Jay Adams ain't got nothing to do with what has gone down.

Folks, Falco ain't dead. You won't see the weekly cartoons or cartoon contest anymore, but he'll be back when we get to the playoffs, bigger than life and decked out in full battle regalia, Hick'ry Stick in hand, ready and looking to bust heads and take names!

In closing, I just wanna say that while I am disappointed, I am not angry and I want to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all of you that have enjoyed my work and supported my efforts. Last but not least, Falco says, and I quote; "I Love You Guys!":wub:

I'm more determined now to keep doing my toons over here. I can do what I want and I don't have to worry about some candy-assed pussy with his thumb up his ass telling me what's acceptable and what isn't.

Right now, I'm so pissed I don't know what to say! Initial thoughts were do we have any recourse as fans, or power to get that decision reversed. But then I re-read what Supes said, and dammit, I have to agree w/him. Do YOU guys want watered down Falco "pop-culture" cartoons? I don't think they would resonate w/this audience the same. But dang, man, this is just the silliest horseshit I've heard in a while.

I give it 5-6 years before it's the FFL. Flag Football League. What a bunch of pussies.

We have an online community that was strong enough to work together, organize, and come up with an award that actually made it to the players, and the powers that be get rid of it? This proves, along with the shitty state of the official AFMB, that they honestly don't care about the fan base. Fuck them. I'm livid. I understand wanting to have freedom, but seems like a compromise could have been reached here.
