So we sign SJax, Tony G is back...who do we draft in 1st?

We don't have anything close to 10 guys with 5 sacks. We didn't even get 30 sacks as a unit last year and 10 of those sacks walked out the door with Abe being cut. We are in desperate need of a pass rusher.

And I have to add in one of the post season interviews I thought either Smith, TD or Nolan hinted broadly that we were going to be more 3-4 next season.

Exactly my point. You can't just say a system will get guys lots of sacks as a unit when they literally just came off one of the lowest team sack totals in the league. We need a pass rusher badly.

It was the first season and with guys we already had on the roster. We all know this draft is going defense for the most part of not all.

Nolan will get his type of players that can contribute in that fashion.

Exactly.
Who have we let go in D:
Abe - A part time DE who was once great but has declined considerably. Yes he had 10 sacks but he totally disappeared down the stretch.
Dunta - Everyone has called for his ouster for the past three years. He never lived up to the contract and cost a few times with his headhunting hits. He wasn't very good in coverage but now we can't cover without him?
Walker - A back up DE/DT who probably wanted starters money and wasn't going to get it here. He had a good year for us and showed some upside but we weren't going to sign him for more than the team thought he was worth.
Grimes - Probably gone. Hasn't played in a year and a half. He's looking for a big payday. Still might come back but we'll see what he has left

Funny thing about Dumervill:
He was a fourth round pick who played well but exploded with 17 sacks under Mike Nolan in 2009. On our roster right now we have Massaquoi and Matthews 5th and 7th round picks who might just benefit from the Nolan touch.

Don't dispair we have one of the best coaching staffs and front offices in the NFL. They know what they are doing.
