RE: Sam Baker resigns
Saw on USA Today that Baker's contract is worth $45 million over 6 years. That averages out to $7.5 million a year, but we can assume it will be similar to other contracts and be heavily back loaded.

Yeah that means at most a $3-$3.5M cap hit for this year, which is great.

People just don't understand how the guaranteed portions of contracts can be spread out across the years, so that if they cut him a year or 2 early, only then is the dead money accelerated to that next season's cap. This allows them to keep the cap hit really low on the initial year.

This is why when we do Matt's new contract, it's going to be extremely cap friendly and actually free more room up for this year. It will happen, just wait and see.

Exactly. I was going to try to educate the town of idiots on the other board but I'm not going to waste my time. They are melting down over this contract proving most of those 16 year olds have no clue what a contract even is.

RE: Sam Baker resigns
That's pretty cap friendly through out the six years for a LT.

Without. Assuming Tony gets the 7 million it has been reported he's asking it'll go down to about 9.5. However, I agree with Beef, I think his cap hit will end up being lower.

RE: Sam Baker resigns
We are not around 9 million.

Before free agency started it was reported 21 million

William Moore -4 million
Tony G -7 million
Baker -3 million
Reynolds -1 million
plus we have some other free agents
rookie pool is around 4 million

We about done

RE: Sam Baker resigns
that is a VERY sensible deal....it moves up first two years are guaranteed.....after that the cap hit is relatively small....if we could get grimes to sign a deal similar to this, and then we could get some DL help.....we will be looking pretty....or at least better....

We should contact Jake Long and see if he would do a similar deal and then move Baker to RT - our line would be solid at that point....I know it won't happen but that would be awesome...
