RE: Saints report message board, i'm bout dying laughing
The reason we lost this game (MEGAMERGERAMA)
Its not Hartley. Its because of two things. Turnovers, and lack of a run game. Those two are the keys to this teams success last year and neithero ccurred. This team must find a way to get the rungame going. They need to protect the ball better. Losing the turnover battle usually loses the game. THIS IS NOT HARTLEY's FAULT. If you try to make it one guy's fault, then youd make a REALLY bad head coach. Innotech is offline Reply With Quote 11 out of 20 members found this post helpful. He has the most potentially game WINING play but not the only essential one. A sloppy game played by all players is no excuse to cut a kicker. In fact I think it would be a great mistake to cut Hartley. Innotech is offline Reply With Quote 4 out of 7 members found this post helpful. The obvious choice is Heartless but Sean Payton's play calling is becoming like in 08 when Bree's had 5200 yards. You have to have BALANCE. We can't just run in overtime when we haven't most of the game. On 3rd down Brees was getting hit because it was obvious. You look at the Falcons and on 1st and 2nd down they ran and got 1-3 yards. Did they shy away from it, NO! We need to go back to last year stats unless Payton loves the 8-8 record we posted in 08 mandevillekevin is offline Reply With Quote 1 out of 4 members found this post helpful. mandevillekevin View Public Profile Find More Posts by mandevillekevin Unread Today, 03:48 PM #5 Danleco World traveler Join Date: Feb 2005 Age: 32 Posts: 2,062 Danleco will become famous soon enoughDanleco will become famous soon enoughDanleco will become famous soon enoughDanleco will become famous soon enoughDanleco will become famous soon enoughDanleco will become famous soon enoughDanleco will become famous soon enoughDanleco will become famous soon enough 1. Drew threw a stupid, easily avoided interception, which led to points. 2. We did nothing to stop Tony Gonzalez, and he extended too many drives. 3. Our defense was worn out, and they ran it too well against us in the 4th quarter & OT. 4. Hartley missed a very makeable field goal in overtime. THAT'S why we lost. That is his fault because the hold protection and the placement on the hash were fine. Overall, however, our defense was dominated for most of this game and we were also losing a lot of battles on the offensive line of scrimmage. Frankly, we were fortunate that Lance Moore had a great game today. He kept us in this game. Pass and run blocking were well below average. Falcons just beat us in this game. We just need to play better football. While Hartley is clearly going to get blasted after this game, it never should have come down to that kick. (Frankly, I still think that he's not comfortable with his new holder, but that's another story.) The real story of this game is that Atlanta moved the ball (almost at will) and the Saints turned it over uncharacteristically and could not catch passes when needed. We have been greatly affected by injuries in this early season and that has no doubt set us back, but I see breakdowns with our execution and our defense needs to find a way to get better QB pressure and run stoppage. We're still one of the better teams in the league and we will be contending once again. In fact, there is no reason why we shouldn't be undefeated, but it is what it is. Yes, there is lots to complain about, but rather than complain and whine, I'm gonna sit back and see how the Saints will respond to this latest adversity and be ready to cheer them on next week. We'll get this fixed. We're not out of this thing. Bill is online now Reply With Quote 5 out of 5 members found this post helpful. Bill View Public Profile Visit Bill's homepage! Agreed. The Saints have been getting away with winning despite playing below-average football. I think everyone, fans and players, started to believe they could bring the D- game and beat teams A games. The good news is, it took what will probably be Atlanta's best game of the season to beat an awful looking Saints team. I think this is going to prove to be a wake up call and the Saints are going to have quite the fire lit under them. The reasons you state are the reasons why the game was tied. Hartley is the reason we were unable to win it. It's real simple. Despite all the ways Atlanta played well, we were tied with the opportunity to win if a professional kicker hits a 29 yarder. He's proven he has an issue with knuckling short kicks. Without the block last week, he misses that one too. He's kicking ugly and you have to be careful that he just loses it mentally. __________________ "All you have to do is to tell them (the people) they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.
