haven't they been working on this for years? i'm thinking they've played the last two years based on extensions of the previous CBA and that it just came down to time to do another CBA completely and not just another extension.....

They've been working on a new deal since about 7 months after the last deal was made, when the NFLPA signed the agreement, then decided they didn't like it.
