No, they don't. Maybe they did for this because of the higher fine, but they never had before. In the PS they fined some player (forget who) like $10,000, and the guy was like "WTH, I made like $12K for the game."

I think they do though, I think that is why you have been seeing Finnegan, who doesn't make jack, get $5,000 fines this year with is dirty plays. $50,000 is absolute chump change to Dunta, but's it's close to two game checks for Merriweather. It's a much bigger penalty for him.

They never dish out $50K fines, ever, except now. Coy tweeted earlier he is getting fined $5,000 for some hit, and he can't be making much more than league minimum. It's not based on salary at all.
