Request to talk with specific Falcons fans from 1987
Hi gang. This is my first post here, though I have an account on the "official" message board as well. I'm not terribly active, but I do pay attention.

Were any forum members present at the Falcons v. Redskins game on September 20, 1987? If so, I'd like to talk with you for a couple of minutes. I'm working on a short article about a record James Brown cut with members of the Falcons and the Atlanta Rhythm Section, and I understand that James Brown performed the song at halftime during this game. The recording was released as a 7" single that day. Here's the cover:

If you were at the game and remember James Brown performing, please send me a PM or an email to agent45@gmail.com with a phone number for me to reach you. Or, I can email you my own phone number. I won't post it here.

Wasn't at the game, can't help you. Sorry.

I do remember watching that game on tv though and it's an interesting game because the Falcons upset the Redskins that day behind the strong arm of.....Scott Campbell.

The same Redskins would blow out the Broncos in the Super Bowl.

I remember James Brown playing at a UGA game as a kid. Don't remember any Falcons games.

Thanks for the replies. I figured this would be the perennial needle-in-a-haystack search, but it didn't hurt to try. I went ahead and finished the piece, which is now uploaded at the below link for all. You can click on the song title under the sleeve scan to hear it in all it's glory. It's not James Brown's finest moment, but as football records go, it tops the Superbowl Shuffle. That's for sure!

Agreed, thanks for posting this! I have an acquaintance who sang (sometimes still sings) lead vocals for a late 70s band called Starz. He cites JB as one of his influences when he was coming up. He will definitely get a kick out of this. Smile Although, I'll admit I was hoping to hear JB howl Falcons or something more along the lines of the chorus. They could almost do the same song and substitute "Thrashers" (2 syllables) and it would still work! Hell, I don't care though.... I love me some Godfather! Cool

by gawd that's right. Campbell did do well that day only to fail later. Somewhere I have that game on dvd. Those were some mostly bad times back then.
