Funny thing is....McCarthy is the one who picked Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers in San Fran. For McCarthy that blunder of a pick was a blessing in disguise.

With A Smith, Campbell, and Rodgers being the 3 top picks it appears the NCAA QB stock was depleted the year before when Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger, and Schaub were drafted in the first 3 rounds.

I couldn't imagine the frustration of San Fran's fans waiting 5 years for the #1 draft pick from 2005 to grow up.
