(03-04-2013 03:09 PM)Swift Is a Die Hard Wrote:  NFL trends and research . If Falcons are going to win a Super Bowl Smith, Ryan or TD one of them will not be here . You win a Super Bowl within first 5 years or a change is made somewhere to win a Super Bowl

We've heard you say this before and it's just as dumb now as it was then.

Smith is a damn good coach and can easily coach us to a SB.
Matty is easily capable of winning a SB.
TD is one of the best GM's in the league and is exactly the kind of guy that builds SB winning teams.

A "trend" is simply common variables creating a pattern. What you're doing is taking "uncommon" variables and combining them to create an unrealistic and impossible scenerio.

There's never been a last place team reboot with a brand new coach, a brand new GM, and a brand new QB at the exact same time that has gone on to win a SB at all while still together. So it's not possible to prove that if it hasn't happened in 5 years it won't ever happen.

You can't combine variables like that.

There was a "trend" that the Falcons would never win back-to-back winning seasons... but then they did.
There was a "trend" that the Saints would never win a SB... but then they did.
There was a "trend" that Bill Cowher would never win a SB... but then after 14 years he did.
There was a "trend" that Drew Brees would never win a SB... but then after 9 years he did.
There was a "trend" that Mickey Loomis would never win a SB... but then after 8 years he did.

RE: Released Abe
trend trend trend

there was a trend that a west coast team didn't come into the east coast and win a game, then seattle did it in washington, and SF did it here.

there was a trend that andy reed never lost a game after a bye week....we kicked their asses

there was a trend..........

there was a trend..........

there was a trend.......

you saying we WON'T do something because of a trend is just as stupid as those who said all those above trends would dictate the winners/losers of specific games.

Total lame BS, plain and simple. which of course is a trend for you, I will admit, I don't expect to ever see that trend broken

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: Released Abe
Super bowl teams are determined by the NFL's marketing department. As is the winner. All year long we saw commercials by NFL sponsors containing the niners and ravens add in the brothers angle and you have a game you can promote. The Falcons want to win a super bowl? Make themselves more marketable.

You need to clean the sand out of your vajaja and quit acting like this hasn't been an exceptional top tier team the past 5 years. Your expectations are so ridiculously obnoxious, you're delusional. It's hard to get to the playoffs in this game much less win the SB and you're bitching and moaning as if this team sucks because we lost 4 playoff games and haven't won a SB. That's some delusional xbox fantasy land level shit right there. And I'm sick of seeing you cry about it.

Like you've got any room to talk. I must be not be that bad because I have never been banned on here like you. So not being happy that the Falcons are 1-4 in the playoffs the last 5 years is having "ridiculously obnoxious expectations"? Since when? Right now the Falcons are the Braves of the 90s but even the Braves of the 90s didn't lose until they made the big game. Nobody gives a flying fuck who makes the playoffs if you don't make noise once you get there and blowing a 17-0 lead is not the right kind of noise to be making in the playoffs. Sorry that you're satisfied with just making the playoffs every year. I'm not. The only thing people remember is the team that wins the Super Bowl.

I think people are missing the middle road here.

There's a huge gap in being absoutely satisfied and having unrealistic expectations. The arguments are going back and forth from extreme to extreme.

There is a happy lil medium where you are happy of how far we got but you want more

Or you are disappointed about the recent lack of success in the playoffs and giving up a 17 point lead but you are happy that we had the opportunity or that we were just 10 yards away or two fluke turnovers away.

There is a medium there and I think both parties need to find the opposite of their extreme views and meet in the middle.

The problem is one side expresses nothing but the negative and the other side expresses nothing but the positive and each side reacts to the other.

Goldilocks had it right. Get some of this "Just Right Porridge" like I got.

I agree. I never once said anything to suggest that the Falcons are a total failure as is and that the team needs to be blown up and start over. I'm not Swift. I don't know how I got put in that group.

But that being said I'm not going to go happy go lucky and be completely blind to the flaws the Falcons have and with where we are right now because my ultimate want is for the Falcons to win a Super Bowl and they had everything line up perfectly for them last season and blew it. 8-0 start to the season, home field in the playoffs, Super Bowl played in a dome. Hard believe they'll have everything line up that perfectly again when the next Super Bowl is being played out doors in a cold weather city.

Thomas Dimitroff is gonna have to work a lot of magic to field a team that puts a much better defense on the field. One that can hold onto leads. I think what everyone is over looking is that the defense did their best to blow the Seahawks game and Matt Ryan and Matt Bryant saved the defense's bacon for that game. But TD is off to a good start by getting rid of Turner, Abraham and Dunta. They needed to go in order to try to move forward. I wasn't sad one bit about the moves. Now hopefully he doesn't screw that up by signing someone like Steven Jackson or Dwight Freeney. The Falcons must get younger period.

LOL....I thought that Goodell canned the lights in the superbowl cornered the refs and told them....look I realize I made a mistake with the harbaugh bowl.....if I wanted excitement I should have let the Falcons win (I guess next year that's what I will do, I hope I can get Tony G to come back.....but I think I pissed him off!) but for now let's make this interesting guys!

The reason the ravens won was because the NFL has reinvented itself as the organization that rehabs of bad souls. So in order to make the rehab of ray lewis complete they got him one more super bowl. Everyone but the NFL talks about ray as a criminal but the NFL talks about how good of a person he is now. This year they got great ratings and lots of positive press for his football life special. What better of a coda than his winning one more championship. The nfl saves lives. Thats goodells message now.

That's better than play football and you die from your brain exploding. Which is what will happen to Ray in 5-7 years.
