I became a Falcon fan in 1980 and I can't even begin to describe how much suffering I've been through in that time. If I knew that the Falcons were going to win every game next season by thirty points I wouldn't miss a snap of any game, and I'd record them and watch them over and over. I'd be totally happy if the Falcons destroyed everyone they played and I knew it was going to happen.

Dude no one has been around longer than me, my Dad took me to the first Falcons home game before I could even walk. I still vividly remember the devastation of the 1980 season with the playoff loss to Dallas like it was yesterday, back before I learned not to take things for granted. I remember the elation of the first playoff appearance, a victory over Philly followed by a loss to Dallas the next week. I also remember the horrific 80s after the dumbass Smiths fired Bennett. It's exactly all those years of suffering that has given me the perspective I have now.
I've always said not everyone has the stomach to be a Falcons fan. That's why all the whining by many of our fans annoys the piss out of me, a bunch of entitled cry babies that have no idea just how good we have it now.

We have it great now compared to what we used to deal with. But we still haven't really accomplished anything. We still only have 1 Super Bowl appearance (way back in 1998) and still 0 Super Bowl wins.

Yes....we still haven't taken the trophy...and these heart attack special games have to be reduced to 2-3 a year instead of 5-6....but our franchise has come a long way....we are ready for that next level....I had a feeling that this year was going to be special....before the season started there were tons of doubter and our schedule didn't look easy (some of the tougher teams we were supposed to face started off really flat and that is what led to our easy schedule.)

I look at next years schedule...perhaps tougher....but I know when we play our game for 60 minutes I like our chances....I don't know if we win the division but we will make the playoffs provided we stay healthy....mark my words we will be contending. Side note...the 49ers and Seattle will both take a step back....with the 49ers realizing they stuck with the wrong QB (Seattle will take division).....that run option....teams will have it more locked down next year....but I disagree winning seasons in a row.....that is huge....in the last 5 years only the Patriots have a better regular season record....THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES....we just have to learn to put our foot on the other teams throats and apply pressure at the end.....I think Smitty is going to have to realize running up the score is far easier than trying to always run out the clock....and when that happens we will get our Superbowl win!

Correct. And Monday = less people = more 1-on-1 time with the ladies
Gangnam Style

That was the only acceptable answer.

Whoever we bring in will have to develop especially if a rookie and if we bring in Osi and Freeny they are both on down side of career and had less production that Abe last season. both are 4-3 DES and if Nolan plans to use 3-4 they are not in plans.

You think its that easy and that simple
Replace Abe with Freeny or Osi
Bring back Tony G
Sign SJax who is upgrade over Turner

and boom were back in NFCCG. I mean cmon man. Wish it was that simple but how about team chemistry and leadership ABE brought. How about OC having to worry where 55 is every play. Turner might have slowed down last season but he still put TDS on the board. Its not as simple as boom upgrade on paper even though its highly questionable either DE would be an upgrade over Abe

Falcons will take a step back next season and win 8-10 games. Harder schedule as well. It was bound to happen. Falcons have to retool. We had a 5 YEAR WINDOW to win a championship with some veterans WE DID NOT..Now its time to retool get younger and make another run

While I will admit I can't say for sure replacing Abe will be this easy, in reality you can't either. Players like JJ Watt, Aldon Smith, Von Miller, for just the first three off the top of my head, came in and had immediate impact. It could happen for us.

All your doom and gloom 'window closed' BS sure gets old

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

We haven't won a title, this is true, but to say we haven't accomplished anything is absurd. For that statement to be true the accomplishments of 1985-1989 are the same as the accomplishments of 2008-2012. I know that's not what you mean because that would make you an imbecile, rather I think you mean we haven't accomplished the only thing you care about. Like I said that's just not how I look at it. If I did I would be miserable. Actually I enjoyed this season overall except for the very end. I'm ok with it though because we finally have a top team and organization and barring injury we will have our shot again next year and that is a far cry from the past.

RE: Released Abe
Even if we won a Super Bowl 30 years ago, and didn't do a damn thing since, you'd be happy about that?

We've only really became relevant recently. Stop hanging onto the past. We've got a new history we are currently making, and its good.

And I enjoyed the season too until the 2nd half of the Niners game when the Falcons of yesteryear showed up.

Well excuse the hell outta me for not liking the way the season ended when the Falcons did the unthinkable and blew a 17-0 lead. Excuse the hell outta me for not being happy that punk Flacco and the Ravens won the Super Bowl instead of the Falcons.
