Just a few points:
1. The league has made a big show about player safety. At the same time, they are trying to expand the regular season to 18 games. Goodell's hypocrisy is becoming more and more evident. In order to keep appearances up, I think that the Jets' coach (Alosi) will be suspended from the NFL for two years. I also think that their HC (Ryan) should receive a $25k fine for not maintaining proper sideline discipline. There is no reason for a strength and conditioning coach to be hugging the sideline. And, there is no room for a coward, like that to take a shot at a defenseless player. Woody Hayes lost his career for a similar move. 2. Not long ago, I called Brent Grimes an "excellent nickle back." He has proved me wrong and I see that he has truly earned his starting role. He deserves a starter's contract. Congrats to Grimes. What goes best with Crow, ketchup or mustard? 3. The offensive line is playing much better these days. Baker is back to his old self. Apparently, he is feeling healthy again. Let's hope he avoids the injury bug. We will need him for the playoffs. While Ryan makes his OL look better than they are, we still need to credit the OL for keeping Ryan clean and healthy. 4. I have read that Mularkey is on Denver's radar as a HC candidate. I have always liked Mularkey. While many critics have felt that he is too conservative, it is obvious that he gears his game plans to his players' strengths. Ryan's quick reads and short passes reflect the little time he gets in the pocket. Mularkey has done a very good job of keeping opposing defenses guessing. Hopefully, we will keep Mularkey for a couple of more years. I'd like to see what he can do with a developing HD, a speedy RB and an improving OL . |
