Pittsburgh is one of the best pass rushing teams in the league, that 3 seconds that Ryan was given wasn't just because our O-line is terrible as you would have us all believe. The fact is, Mularkey didn't key in on creating the mismatches when they would blitz. Running the Comeback route against a team that is giving you less than 4 seconds to throw the ball is ridiculous Your taking a few things from this game and trying to disprove the opinion. However, we've been receiving the same results when Ryan has had time to pass, we've played this way all through pre-season against teams like the Chiefs, Patriots, and Dolphins. Teams who aren't known for their dominant defense like the Steelers are. We've struggled since the start of 2009... How many execution excuses can you make before you start to realize that the poor execution is likely due to the poor scheme, and play design? Doing 1 thing different every week is not enough to win in todays NFL. You have to combat the defense differently with every team you play, and you have to make the adjustments during the game to exploit their weaknesses. You have Tony Gonzalez saying they looked at the film and they thought the execution looked good. You have Aaron Smith telling Michael Turner - "Yall pulling out all the tricks today aren't yall?" Turner then smiled and chuckled and said something which was inaudible, and then Smith said "yeh Mike reach deep in his bag of tricks today". You got Mike Smith for the first time really makes a point of it's not the only the Players, it's the coaches. He didn't just say to be saying it, he actually made it a point to express that concern. That's three things right there that allude to the playcalling...You have to see these things, instead of taking the safe stance of hiding behind execution alone. If your waiting on someone in the organization to come out and brashly say that "Mularkey sucks"....Keep waiting, it's not going to happen... Look around you realistically...Mularkey isn't doing everything that he can do, to put this team in the best possible position to execute and make a play. Dome Section 232! |
