Panthers Update on Injury report
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers starting weakside linebacker Jason Williams has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Atlanta with a knee injury, further depleting a thin unit.

Williams moved into the starting lineup two games ago following a number of injuries. After practicing in full Thursday, he apparently suffered a setback on Friday when he was listed as limited. The Panthers moved him from questionable to out on the injury report Saturday.

Williams' backup, Nic Harris, also is out with a head injury. That leaves Jordan Senn and Abdul Hodge as candidates to start Sunday.

Starting middle linebacker Jon Beason is also questionable with a sore knee. He practiced on a limited basis Friday.

Their linebacking unit is looking VERY thin. With no Julius Peppers on the D-Line, I think Turner is going to be let loose come Sunday.

Turner will have to be the work horse under these conditions. Snelling is still questionable.

RE: Panthers Update on Injury report
It looks like Carolina's run D will be ultra-porous this week, creating opportunities for some of the Falcons back-ups.

Based on Smitty's ultra-conservative approach this year toward returning injured players, and the greater difficulty of upcoming games, I'd be shocked to see Snelling among the actives this week. But I also wouldn't want to see Turner overworked, so it's a great opportunity to see Antone Smith (who should be active), maybe a little Gartrell Johnson, and definitely some more Ovie action.
