Options.....
Well I like how most things are shaping up so far....not sure where we stand in cap space but there are a few things I would still love to see.....
Stephen Jackson....long shot, but adding him gives us a lot of extra firepower and also adds to the team of destiny......can we do without....sure....but he certainly would make for interesting options on offense....can you imagine a two back set with quizz going one way and s.jax going the other? And they say Harvin makes Seattle the team to beat.....pfffft...option two....Peyton Hillis....still trying to clean up his rep but he can still pound the rock Add K. Dansby....so far underachiever, we could get him cheap and he knows Nolan's defensive scheme....perhaps that would energize him....I would be cautious with signing bonus and any guaranteed money....would like to add him as added depth and then be able to cut him if he doesn't cut the mustard (maybe make his contract money guaranteed if he is on the roster at start of season?)....also the Ray Maluga (spelled wrong) who has underachieved but might fit Nolan and his Amoeba scheme.....at least these guys tackle! Didn't know Manny Lawson was out there.....wish would could have brought him in....always liked his play...... Grimes....I would like to have him back.....but that said don't break the bank as good as he is we did fine without him last year....sure we lost Dante....but that guy performed one year for all that money.....another option....sign Aso for less money.....he is getting 4 mil from Eagles....maybe sign him to reduced contract this year with roster bonus if he stays on to next season? I am sure he wants to play for a winner.....another adds to the team of destiny as he is on backside of his career......also DRC (though I think he would demand more money) - still options and not too nervous here.....just want someone who isn't afraid to tackle! DL - I don't know what Nolan has planned, I certainly wouldn't mind adding Glenn Dorsey as a true NT......Amobi Okoye is another option that would be cheaper....that said not sure if they fit Nolan's bill..... DE - draft.....maybe OSI if he fits the scheme and doesn't want too much bank to play for contender. Anyway....like the progress so far....just want to see more.....would love to add a super DE and LB in the draft....then pieces for future building Side note - anyone think Leon Washington would be a good signing for returning kicks and punts, backup RB and could fill us in on all the seattle option stuff.....should come fairly cheap.....if we can't draft one later I thought it would be a nice touch...... |

RE: Options.....
We have room for one more player figuring no more restructure or cuts
SJax- no rather draft rookie rb Grimes - 50/50 depends on how long contract Osi or Freeny- would be our best bet. Falcons should have cut ties with Tony G especially at his price. 7 mill toward cap could have spent elsewhere. It's also not like he is here for the future either so taking up 7 mil in cap space for one season that creates a hole next year Best Bet is go after Osi . Draft DB/DT/RB first three rounds Hope McClain is ready for being 2nd corner. or rookie DB Hope rookie rb contributes ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 . - Added by Phocis because of this post. Warned here. Do not remove. |

RE: Options.....
I wouldn't mind drafting a RB later who could double as a slot receiver.....and I know S. Jax would cost too much.
incidentally I don't think Gonzo is costing us 7 mil.....I can't remember where I read it, but it said that after talking with the team he didn't want 7 mil if it tied our hands.....he may be waiting to see what other free agents we can get before locking in a price......he will get paid....but TD will find a way to make it not hurt so bad......TG wants to win and won't break the bank if it means we can't sign someone to fill a void. |

Not only is TG not going to cost $7M (he's probably signing for somewhere between $5.5-$6.5M), but they will likely sign him to a 2 year deal with 2/3rds hitting the cap this year, and then when he retires after THIS year, his other 1/3rd will be dead money on next year's cap. We are losing quite a bit of dead money off the books next year, so should be plenty of room to do it like this. TG may only end up being around a $3.5-$4M cap hit this year. |

RE: Options.....
I had heard somethign similar Beef.....
TG doesn't want to break us, he wants every possible piece in place....S. Jax is a bit of a pipe dream....but could you imagine a 2 back set with him and quizz going opposite directions on screens.....then with JJ,Roddy and TG out there.....WOW that would be something to see! |

RE: Options.....
I don't think you can say Karlos Dansby has underachived. He's had a solid career considered most of it was spent in Arizona on horrible teams. 885 official tackles with 707 of them being solo. 31.5 sacks. 11 interceptions. 42 passes defended. 15 forced fumbles, 9 fumble recoveries. He just has never gotten much attention playing for terrible teams like the Cardinals and Dolphins. Also he's pretty durable having never played in fewer than 14 games in a season and having started all 16 games 4 of the last 5 years.

RE: Options.....
Let's sign Dansby and Leon Washington....quizz shouldn't be returning the ball...and leon would be a good backup guy to have....
