Who Would You Bet Your Retirement On?
So I heard this on the John Kincade show this past weekend and thought it was a marvelous idea for an off topic off season post here. Simple question: If you had to bet 1/3 of your retirement on one player, coach, or organization who would you bet it on?
1/3 of your retirement on what you think will be succussful.

For a lot of us, this would be a hefty chunk of change, so you'd want to make sure it was a sure thing, or close to it. Kincade chose the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is understandable with how good they have been. However, they are getting a little old. A female guest (I didn't catch her name) picked the LA Kings. Freddie Coleman chose Cam Newton, while Jonathon Coachman picked Kevin Durant. I'm pretty sure I heard someone pick Andrew Luck as well.

My pick: Aaron Rodgers. I think he has all the tools and still carries that chip on his shoulder despite getting a Super Bowl title. Who does everyone here have?

I think Kevin Durant is the best answer.

You can dominate in the NBA way easier than in the NFL or any other sport.

He is also the youngest superstar out right now...he has the perfect combination of a humble spirit off the court and a fighters mentality on the court. He also plays a position that doesn't get injured often in the NBA along with his style of play it helps. And he is always striving to be better.

I guess I don't understand what do you mean "bet on" like over all success, one year, championship, what exactly is the parameter this is being measured against?

That was never defined, but I picture it as overall success moving forward.

Hmm...so are we also taking into account previous success to factor in future. Y'know cause I'd pick Brady (already got three championships) as overall success.

Peyton Manning

[edit] If Manning does not win another Superbowl as a player, but goes on to coach and wins one, do I still win?

Only if you want to take it as a basis for your future pick. Think of it like buying a stock, you can't get Microsoft now for the price it was during its IO, but you can look at its history when deciding if you want to buy.
