Ron Paul is the first candidate I can remember in my lifetime that values personal AND economic liberty for all Americans. He is far from an anarchist as I have seen some call him, that probably spend too much time listening to Foxnews, Rush Limbaugh, and MSNBC (yes I included both sides). Ron Paul strongly believes in laws that punish those who infringe on your individual rights of life, liberty, and property. Stealing, murder, trespassing, polluting your air/water, etc. He doesn't believe in laws that protect you from yourself as this takes away from your liberty to live your life how you choose. He is all about the rights of the individual. The most consistent and principled politician I can ever remember. As icing on the cake he is also a veteran and a physician (flight surgeon in the Air Force).

Obama won the 2008 election, in no small part, because about 90% of African American voters voted for him.

As an African American, that vote could very well go to Paul if he wins the primaries (which he sadly probably won't).

That's gone for every democratic candidate for several decade now. Blacks have almost always unanimously voted Democrat.

True, but we came out in record numbers to cast that traditionally-high-percentage-Democrat vote. In other words, the 90+% was the same, but there were 2 million more of us who cast that vote for the D ticket.

If Paul keeps this up, he will surely get mine instead.

If not a single black person voted, Obama would have still won by about 300,000 votes.

Radical, my larger point was that although he, along with most Democratic presidential nominees, receive so much of the African American vote, I--one of those African Americans--will be looking to candidates like Ron Paul for a new kind of "change."

My biggest problem with Paul is his foreign policy or should I say lack of one that isn't 1939ish or 1905ish. You can't operate a modern superpower and maintain that distinction by acting like a turtle and pulling back into your shell. Now truly we don't need to be every place we currently are, but too often he has called for the complete dismantling of the forward bases around the world that would allow us to respond quickly to the issues we should.

Personally anyone who says they would rather vote for Obama than any of the Repub candidates worries me, because they haven't really been looking around and seeing what is happening or going to happen if he stays in office. The regulations on business, ie healthcare, Unions, EPA, and added oversite rules, plus the Supreme Court judges to be appointed, plus the horrid foreign policy, plus the class warfare rhetoric, plus the out of control spending all add up to issues that could destroy our current way of life and country. Mind you, I am not saying the Repubs are perfect or even totally what we need, but at least it might slow down some of the issues until we can kick enough of the bums out to maybe actually change things enough to make a difference.

^ That's your problem thinking the Republicans are different from Obama. The only different candidate is Ron Paul and a lot of people are starting to see that. This whole Republican and Democrat stuff is a scam. Both sides are about stuffing their pockets in their simplest form. Paul is a breathe of fresh air.

George Washington said stay out of foreign affairs, so you're staying don't listen to our foundation? Save me that the times change BS. If we aren't going to pay attention to founding principles than what exactly are we doing. We shouldn't be playing in anyone else's back yard, especially with all the landscaping we need to do in our own yard. That's what a lot of people don't seem to understand. We're slowly falling down the scale in terms of being a superpower, and we are going to continue to plummet until we fix our own issues. The last thing on our mind needs to be foreign affairs. Our thinking as a country and those in charge is completely flawed.
