I support the Atlanta Falcons, not the OC. I'm not like Swift where I'm going to pull for him to fail for the satisfaction of rubbing it in everyone's faces. However, the fans are responsible for us being known as having one of the worst fan-bases in the league. The dome doesn't even fill up until the 2nd quarter most of the time. Fans screaming when our offense has the ball. Over the last few years the fans have gotten much better though, but that's not the point of this post. Do you honestly think any other fan base would handle this differently? This team has expectations. Hiring the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL does not give anyone confidence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

If the fans had a say in it we would have Haynesworth, Dorsey, and Brohm as well.

You'd say the same thing no matter who we hired. Who knows? Lady Gaga could be an offensive genius. I'm going by his resume, by what my friends in Jacksonville are saying, by looking at video of his offenses. Dude, THERE IS NOTHING THERE. I like the way he talks offense, but it doesn't match up to what he's accomplished. Any OC in the NFL could go 8-8, 9-7 with this talent. After our playoff loss, I expected this team to do an exhaustive search for the next guy to run our offense, the fact that they didn't annoys me, the fact that went with the laziest choice possible, infuriates me. Sorry man, I'm perfectly happy to be proven wrong, but I don't like the hire, that doesn't make me a bad fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

It was a timid, lazy hire. He said the word "vertical", and he knew Smitty. That's how he got the job. Resumes are overrated. Would you hire this guy? You can never speak an ill word about the guy, but, it's perfectly acceptable to bash the ever living shit out of our new OC before the guy even has a chance to show us what he's got. The guy hasn't even done anything wrong yet, and fans are tearing into the guy like he's the one that just led our offense to a scoreless postseason game. Our fans are so hypocritical and bass ackwards it isn't even funny any more. I'm just gonna start taking names so that if/when the guy ends up being an offensive genius for us, i can embarrass the fuck out of y'all. There is no difference between this hire and that of Barack Obama. They are allowed to be criticized by those that will be/are affected.

Hiring the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL does not give anyone confidence. Most fans would not blame a previously successful NFL OC and NCAA HC for one bad season with a terrible team, especially one who is highly regarded among people who actually make their living by being knowledgeable about football at the professional level. I might also mention that he has actually had a little success in the post-season as an OC and HC, but that might be too easy to dismiss based on the stats of the game or the NCAA opponents, so we will ignore that fact completely. Seriously, caliber make some of the silliest posts and spams the board quite often after games, but he does have a point with this thread. Its fucking pathetic how hypocritical some of the more vocal Falcons fans are. "WAAAAAHHHHH, we didn't hire someone I wanted so we are DOOOOMED!!!1!1!!" Thats all I see when it comes to the criticism our new OC is getting. Yall really picked some low hanging fruit this time; any moron can check out the Jaguars offensive stats from this season and point a finger without even mentioning how terrible that team's talent pool and moral was or the previous success their OC already had. Its nonsensical, transparent, ignorant, and comical, all at once! Look, I am not saying this guy will be an offensive guru that can singlehandedly turn our offense into something that is unstoppable. I am not saying I am as excited by this OC as I would have been about some others. What I am saying is that you people that cry like bitches and threaten to stop being fans because you don't get your way make me sick. We don't know how this guy will do as OUR OC. At least let him have a single game before you start being negative douchebags. |

RE: Our fan-base is PATHETIC.
I've looked at this guy's entire resume. It's not much more impressive. He inherited a decent offense in Jax and ran it into the ground. Believe me, if I could find a way to rationalize this hire and be happy with it, I would. I hate this feeling.
