Yep. That was awesome. Definitely a video game style crash.

I am dying to get NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. I am so pumped for it. I haven't played a NASCAR game since NASCAR 06.

Over the past few months I have been watching a lot of old races (mostly from 1993). There were fewer winners then, Rusty Wallace, Dale Earnhardt, Ernie Irvan and Mark Martin combined to win 22 of the 28 races, with 6 other drivers having won a single race that year. So that's only 10 different winners out of 28 races. But the racing was more competitive for the lead. Many times the races came right down to the wire and you could throw a blanket over the top 3 or 4 drivers.

Now days there are more winners, 18 different winners in 36 races last year, the races are less competitive. Most of the races tend to be run away. Very rarely now days to races come right down to the wire with 2 or 3 guys battling it out for the win on the final laps. That problem started happening when NASCAR changed the car in 2007. NASCAR is again changing the car for next year. Hopefully the car leads to more competitive racing and more exciting finishes.

Today during the Nationwide series race there was a massive wreak at the end and a car almost went into the stands. Lots of spectator injuries and the engine of the car was completely ripped from the car and stuck in the fence.

While people are saying more needs to be done to protect the fans (which is always the case), mad props to that fence and the design that essentially stopped an entire car and engine from plowing into the stands at point blank range, with that speed and power. People are neglecting to acknowledge just how amazing the safety standards in place were in what is the worse-case scenario in a wreck near the fans. The debris that did damage went over the top... maybe baseball-like netting over the entire crowd would help that?

Prayers out to those injured for a quick recovery.
