OK, Your Probably Not Going to Believe This
Earlier this week I started a thread saying Joe Flacco would have the most road playoff wins of any QB in NFL history if the Ravens beat the Steelers.

Well they didn't. So he isn't. He is instead in a tie with HOF players Len Dawson and Roger Staubach, as well as Jake Delhomme.

Oh wait.......there is one other guy.

Mark Sanchez.

If the Jets beat the Steelers this weekend, then Mark Sanchez will have more road playoff wins than any other QB who ever played in the NFL.

Elway didn't do it.
Montana didn't do it.
Bradshaw didn't do it.
Stabler didn't do it.

None of those guys even won 4 road playoff games.

Mark Sanchez, in his first 2 seasons, can be the winningest road playoff QB in history.

Wow.

Haha. Well I really don't have anything to say to that except go Steelers. Smile I know a couple of Jets fans and they are insufferable when they run around imitating a Jet. I don't know if I can take that anymore.

But, how much is this stat skewed by the fact that usually the best QBs played on the best teams and most of the time played their playoff games at home? Sanchez is helped by playing in the WC games while Joe Montana sat at home with a bye.

OH......I think you would be surprised.

Road playoff records.

Montana 2-5
Elway 3-3
Favre 3-7
PManning 2-5
Brady 3-2
Marino 1-6
Warner 1-2
Young 0-3
Aikman 1-4
Kelly 1-4
Moon 1-5
Stabler 1-5
Bradshaw 2-3

Sanchez 4-1

All those great QBs, and only Brady has a winning record, and even his record on the road is inferior to Sanchez.

Usually those guys had superior teams and would have home games (#1 or #2 seed). Sanchez has been in the wild card position every year.

Every great Qb of the last 40 years played as many road games as Sanchez has played. The only one with a winning record is Brady.

Sanchez is at 80%.

I'm not making a commentary on it, just stating the wierd facts.

I think one thing that is obvious is that in the last 20 years teams have gotten infinitely better at dealing with hostile environment. The win percentage of road playoff teams has gone way up.

As evidenced by the fact that the only two teams with winning records on the road in the playoffs, the Ravens and the Panthers, have only existed less than 20 years.
