We can look later rounds and try and find a freak TE that we can try and groom ..Guy like Schuyler Oordt who has great size and speed ..can also block as well

See this is what I was thinking about Rudolph, before it was he's traditional throwback gritty style TE, those guys aren't thriving as much these days it seems. You need a guy who can go down field and work that middle like he's a slot receiver, just that he presents a different problem. It's proven you can get decent tight end talent outside round one. I'd rather our best pick be in a guy like a WR. (but the right one) I'm in 2 minds about Hankerson, he plays faster than his 40, I like the idea that he could be a mismatch. We need another player like that very few people can switch Roddy off but they can limit him we need people who can make them pay for that and break open. We need at least 2 IMO

I agree with this right here. TE can be addressed later in the draft with a project. We have other, pressing needs we need to address with our earlier picks.
Also, I think I remember reading somewhere that TD will be looking to trade up in the draft.

I don't understand how you can draw the conclusion that he is the 4th best TE in the league based solely on the number of catches he made.

At this point, Tony Gonzalez is a large body target with relatively sure hands that can get open on a short field using his route running ability and size. He lacks speed, YAC potential, run blocking ability, and all around agility.

At this point, I would take Jason Witten, Mercedes Lewis, Kellen Winslow Jr., and Aaron Hernandez over him in a heart beat. While he's still pretty good, he's someone you can base an offense around any more. Right now, the only player on this team that can really take over a game is Roddy White, and that isn't good enough.

I think that Atlanta needs to draft a good WR. However, I'm not so sure about using the first-round pick on a WR, as I think there will be plenty of good WRs still available in the second and third rounds. Hopefully, Atlanta will obtain a proven pass-rushing DE in FA. If so, then I would like to see Atlanta's first-round selection be either a CB or an OT.

I could deal with Mathias. Dude is still pretty young. He has a herniated disk, which is an injury that's hard to "cure" from what I understand. I think given the right numbers, he would be a great fit down there, though.

Love Mayock....that is a pretty good list he's got there. However I think Leonard Hankerson should probably rank 4 or 5 on that list.

i'm with you here. i don't think i'd waste too early a pick on a TE with an injury history. goodness knows we've taken more than our share of those players the last three years. I'm still of the mind that Palmer played well when given the opportunity, and having a year of watching TG under his belt would only make him better.

Also agreeing with the post that the throwback TE is just that, throwback, and not the TE of the present and/or future. we need someone who can block when needed, catch over the middle when needed, or help stretch the field. Looking at the two NE picked up last year and the one NO got also, man that's what i'd like to see us have.
