New five-round mock draft from WalterFootball.com has Atlanta selecting:
27. Atlanta Falcons: Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland

It's no secret that the Falcons need receiver help. With Tony Gonzalez regressing at an alarming rate, Matt Ryan's only viable option this season was Roddy White. Atlanta has to get its franchise quarterback some help.

General manager Thomas Dimitroff is all about finding players with great character and work ethic, which makes Torrey Smith a great fit for the Falcons. Smith is a high-effort guy who earned his degree in 2-and-a-half years. Oh, and he's pretty talented too.

59. Atlanta Falcons: Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame

I wanted to put Kyle Rudolph a lot higher than this, but there are so many teams in the NFL that don't need or use tight ends. It's really hard to believe that a player as skilled as Rudolph can fall this far, but there are always a couple of talented prospects who drop on Draft Day.

Rudolph won't make it past Atlanta twice. Tony Gonzalez will probably be entering his final year in the NFL next season, and he doesn't look like he has much left. The Falcons will need a successor.

Pick change; previously Pernell McPhee, DE

91. Atlanta Falcons: Jeremy Beal, DE, Oklahoma

The Falcons really need to upgrade their pass rush; they had just 23 sacks during the regular season, and John Abraham isn't getting any younger.

Pick change; previously Lance Kendricks, TE

123. Atlanta Falcons: Shane Vereen, RB, California

More weapons for Matt Ryan. The Falcons need to surround their franchise quarterback with talent because the cupboard's pretty bare right now. Michael Turner won't hold up as the starting running back much longer.

155. Atlanta Falcons: Jeremy Kerley, WR, TCU

Notice a trend here? This is yet another offensive player for Matt Ryan; Jeremy Kerley could compete with the pedestrian Harry Douglas for the slot receiver position.

I'm not as sold on Torrey Smith as others. Sure, he looks to have all the tools - decent size, good speed - I just don't have a good feeling about him being a really good player at the NFL level.

I'm a big fan of Kyle Rudolph's game tape. My only problem with him is injuries - he seems to accumulate a lot of them - in that way he is almost the "Anti-Gonzalez".

Jeremy Beal? Is he just an undersized defensive end who is more suited as a 3-4 OLB? We have enough of those right now (Bierrman/Sidbury).

Don't know much about each of the individual players, but I like the positions targeted. I too think Atlanta needs to get 2 receivers, a tight end, a running back, and a defensive end as its first five positions selected.

I don't want another rookie CB, might get a nickle/dime corner in free agency.

After being last in the NFL in explosive plays on offense this is what Atlanta needs. And getting another defensive end to throw in the mix is nice too. Don't mean I still wouldn't turn around in 2012 and draft another defensive end high to go along with an outside linebacker and another offensive line in the first three rounds.

Might also have to get a free agency safety or draft one in the late rounds after the departure of Coleman.

I like Shane Vereen alot ...but rest of draft not in love with at all.. I also dont think the TE from Notre Dame last that long and I dont even think he should be on our draft board

I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 .

I'm not questioning that Tony G. is regressing...but even when regressing, he's still the 4th best TE in the league. I think comments like this only make him better.

What is it that you dislike, the actual players the positions featured or the order. I am more of the mind to get Kendricks than Rudolph as we could get him later I believe. I like going receiver round 1, but I must admit despite studying the class harder than I have before I can't say who at all. Hmm perhaps a draft day move up for Julio? I don't know...

EDIT: Even Jones I'm uncertain about... with his baseball bat for hands syndrome.

Dimi/Smith seem to have a problem drafting CBs. Third-round pick Chevis Jackson has already been cut, and it appears that another third-round CB pick in Chris Owens might not be around much longer either. Fifth-round CB selection Middleton was cut, as was seventh-round pick Fontenot. Atlanta probably needs to draft a CB in the first-round to increase the probability of getting a starting-caliber CB, or either get a proven one in FA, but don't overspend like they did on Robinson.

I agree, I'm intrigued to see what will happen with Franks, because that guy can certainly play football. Potential for the nickel in the future.

Im not a big Torrey Smith guy I think he will be a Dwayne Bowe type player but I dont think he fits what we are looking for . We need someone who is explosive . Torrey Smith doesnt scream he is more consistent . I also dont see him as a huge upgrade over Jenkins..What were looking for is some like Leonard Hankerson
You cn line him up in the slot or flank out wide ..He has great size/speed and hands and would be the perfect compliment to Roddy & HD but I dont think we should kick Jenkins to curb either

I also dont feel the need to waste a early draft pick on TE ..Tony G and Peele would be fine going into this season if we become more explosive at wr. We can look later rounds and try and find a freak TE that we can try and groom ..Guy like Schuyler Oordt who has great size and speed ..can also block as well
