This would mean that about half the players we thought/hoped would be available in FA simply won't be.

The bad news is, next year we're going to have a freaking ton of FA's to re-sign.

The good news is two-fold... We don't have to worry this year about losing any of our key players except Koenen and Bryant. Dahl, Blalock, Clabo, Grimes, Nicholas, & Snelling won't be going anywhere.

And, maybe because Ray Edwards and Kiwi will not be available, TD/Blank might just go huge and try to get Nnamdi. I really believe it's possible. Without having to re-sign 6 key guys, we'll EASILY have the money to afford Nnamdi. Something like $12-14 mil/year for 5 years would be no problem.

Can you imagine Nnamdi on one side and Grimey on the other with D-Rob at nickel and even playing some mike/rover?

I'am with you on this one Beef man, besides we were decent against the run, so a corner like that would instantly improvement our pass defense. Think about this, if we had, had Nnamdi in the Greenbay game the result could have been very different. Lets just hope that Kroy and Sid have that breakout year just in case we don't aquire a DE.

Jedi and Swift will pitch a fit and we'll never hear the end of it if we don't get a DE.

Not only that, but the "sky is falling" crowd will flip their shit because we gave Nnamdi too much money.

Nnamdi, Drob, and Grimes would cost too much. Way to much.

Grimes is due a payday. Drob, just signed a huge contract last year to hold down that side of the field. You don't throw someone like that into a nickel position.

I don't understand what the problem would be. If the cap ends up eventually being $150 million, which is what is being projected for either this year if there's a CBA or next year, and our owner is willing to fork out the dough and we're under the cap, who cares who is getting paid a lot and who isn't. If we have a HUGE need, which we do, and all 3 of our CB's are making bank, so be it.

I'll be honest, I'd rather have D-Rob in the SLB/nickel/mike area on passing downs than Nicholas.

1st tier: Biermann, Peters/Jerry, Babs, Abe
2nd tier: Nnamdi, Spoon, Lofton, Robinson, Grimes
3rd tier: Moore, DeCoud

If we put that on the field for 750 of 1000 plays on defense over the course of the season, it doesn't matter that 3 CB's are making $10+ mil each per year. There's only 5 out of the 12 listed there making hefty paychecks, which is less than the majority of teams in the league.

We have a hole at Corner right now. If we want to get someone better than Owens in there rather than paying some backup several million to sit behind Owens, we will have to fork out some cash. Carlos Rogers is going to cost around $7-8 million. Grimes is at least that or slightly more. Nnamdi will be probably $12ish simply because you have to out-bid a lot of teams who are probably making offers. But if the money is there, Blank is willing to spend it, and you REALLY want a SB, then go for it. Especially if there's no chance to get a decent DE to platoon with Biermann and we're stuck settling with Davis & JA98 again.
