That doesn't mean anything at all? If you don't think Payton wasn't involved in calling plays at all during that timeframe, then you are being EXTREMELY naive and only for the benefit of trying to win a forum debate. Reality will settle in during the bye week and beyond.

It's sad because there are plenty on this forum who can admit that most likely Brees will sign, and the Saints are a formidable opponent, and Brees is a great QB. We have fans who are not so delusional to recognize things that sre against us but still great. But for you it's difficult to get a common and real answer out of you about the absence of Payton. At one point Payton's absence will not affect the offense and then at another point Payton's absence will cost you 2 games (14 to 12). And at one point Spags will run the whole defense. So if Spags runs the whole defense with no input from Payton and your offense won't be affected by Payton's absence...them why will Payton's absence reduce your game win total from 14 to 12.

Oh wait I forgot...Payton is soooo important to the Special Teams play. Duh...what the fuck was I thinking?

Yes, reality will set in bye week and beyond. The Saints should be 4-1 at that point with two weeks to prepare for a overrated Tampa team. After that game Vitt will be back and the Saints should continue to roll.

Oh, and I said I felt the Saints could win AT LEAST 12 under the current circumstances. With all of Payton's preparation for this season it could be more. Maybe even 14. But, if were not available the following season I would be a different story.

Then why don't you just end all this speculation and distraction, let Payton go, and hire Carmichael as the head coach for the Aints this year? I mean, it's OBVIOUS that Payton adds nothing to the team any more that Carmichael and Vitt can't handle, and they are just as good with Carmichael. You would save a ton on the cost of a head coach, get normalcy back, and not miss a beat (according to you)!

Payton is so good he can prepare against teams before their rosters are even set (even before the Draft)! This guy is amazing AND a psychic!

I already this up to him sometime last month. Somehow he seems to think it doesn't apply.

You know injuries, adjustments, trades, draft, etc. Those are figments of our imagination. You know Payton knew that Ochocinco was going to the Dolphins right?
