Drew will sign soon. The question is who will they lose to free agency in the next four or five years if he gets the long term deal he wants. It could be money well spent if he does. It could become a disaster within a couple of years. If that goober on his cheek goes malignant he may suffer a critical face cancer.

There's no question he will sign and play this year. I just think there's been so much distraction that they won't play as well. It's that simple. Guido's ultra-homer contentions that they will be the favorites and dominate are just unrealistic and stupid.

I for one have no doubt Brees will sign, I just hope it drags out as long as possible and eats up as many OTA's and Mini camps as it can.

Regardless of what our resident fan will say, Brees absence will be a big deal in what is surely an already divided and extremely tense locker room. I imagine there will be ALOT of fights at the remaining OTAs and training camp practices. The saints have so much negative attention on them that it's going to affect their season in a very negative way.

I'm not sure why you would think the locker room would be divided. Everything I'm hearing is that is a great atmosphere. As for fights, they happen all the time. Daniel said Lofton and him were laughing about it after the very next play. I love seeing the passion.

I know if our coaches were suspended and Ryan was holding out and, lets just say, Abraham was suspended for the year, I would be looking forward to one thing... 2013 NFL Draft. Guess that's the realist in me

I guess that's the difference between us and them, they just have more offensive weapons than us...oh wait, no I'd say we actually have better weapons outside of the QB on offense.

Maybe its the defense. I mean they did have a D in the top half of the league...oh wait, that was us again. Well they did get a new coordinator on def...what, we did as well? Interesting. Well at least they added a pro bowl linebacker and...wait, your saying we added one as well? How about DBs, though. They've got a couple of pro bowlers there too and...we have a couple as well.

Colston, Moore, Henderson and #4 (either Morgan or Toon) > Roddy, Julio and HD and #4? (especially with Brees throwing the ball)
Graham >>>> Gonzo
Sproles, Thomas, Ivory, Ingram > Turner, Quiz and Smelling

The Saints should easily have a top three offense once again this year with virtually everyone of note returning, Carl Nicks being the lone missing piece and Grubbs should slip in with no problem according to what the coaches are saying.

The Saints had a very poor defense last year. The LB corps was pitiful, the whole defensive game plan allowed for far too many big plays. The addition of Lofton, Hawthorne and Chamberlain could very well bring three new starters at LB. Lofton has dropped weight and appears to have added quite a bit of quickness. The coaching staff and other players have been amazed at his speed to the ball.

The defense WILL be improved. I have no doubt of that. As a whole the Saints should be a better team top to bottom than the 2011 version. Unless Atlanta improves quite a bit I don't see them catching up to the Saints.

The Saints, with all of the veterans in place as well as having run the same offense for six years, are in a unique position to weather what few, if any, teams could handle. That is the realist in me ... and Vegas odds makers.
