We've already since the 3-4 trend, but several teams that switched to it have gotten away from it, like the Patriots.

OTOH, the Texans, who had one of the worst defenses in the league a year before, switched to the 3-4, brought in a true shut down corner, and instantly had one of the top defenses.

Getting Wade Phillips was a big part of that. Hoping that Mike Nolan gets similar results for us.

4-3 isn't going anywhere. most teams run a hybrid anymore mixing it up to confuse offenses. You will see a base in one or the other but a lot of teams spend most of the games anymore not in their base d thanks to the prevalence of wide open passing offenses but rather in nickels or dimes. I think we started each preseason game in a different look.
Every 5-6 years things shift between 43 and 34.
