What do you do in the off season?
So every off season the first week or so usually sucks, I simply cannot watch the NFL network or Sports center right now. I'm now in the middle of my Falcon withdrawal and it's only been a few days, oh god does it suck!!!

Football is a huge part of my entertainment for the Fall and Winter, looking forward to each game coming up, watching sports news stuff hitting falcon websites, watching Falcons replays on NFL rewind etc. and of course Sunday full of football with Redzone after the Falcons game.

So when the Falcons are done their is a pretty big hole left, what do you guys usually do to occupy your Falcons interests in the off season? How do you get over that empty feeling after football season?

This year was a good year so it is actually a little tougher now as I'm not dejected at the teams play.

I typically find something to support.

Example, I'm helping to make people more aware of Xubuntu.
http://xubuntu.org/

It's the operating system that I'm currently using and I love it. So I'm spending my spare time helping people to get used to it.

Other than that, code, do server stuff, and try to play Modern Warfare every now and then.

RE: What do you do in the off season?
I usually convince myself that I'm going to get into the Braves and really follow them this season (used to be a huge baseball fan) but typically 2-3 weeks into the season they do something that pisses me off and I kind of lose interest. I suspect it will be the same this year, I'll spend three months following the Braves real close and then I'll be like meh, fuck these guys. Aside from that the NBA finals and March Madness are really the only other things I have to look forward to when it comes to sports. Life without Football is a dull existence indeed.

Yea I'm in IT, and tinker with all sorts of technology for work and fun, I installed ubuntu on some older laptops over the years but it never caught on with me long term, I'll check out xubuntu and see if I can dig up some hardware to put it on.

I'm also a pretty big video games but since I work on servers all day I tend to stay on game consoles now, and the current gen I'm kind of burnt out on. Maybe I'll get a cheap Madden 13 and play a franchise one game a week to stretch it out. I used to play tons of Madden but after 08 got totally burnt out on it.

Yeah, I once had an idea that the NFL should switch to playing every other week. So each team would play once every two weeks but alternate so there was NFL football each weekend. That way the players play the same number of games and get more rest in between AND the season last twice as long.

Wonder how that type of thing would actually work out, players getting more actual rest between games might actually help them even if they do have a longer season.

Would be awesome to have 34 weeks of football Smile

I'd be happy with that, or if the College football seasons and the NFL season didn't happen at the same time. Of course neither would want to give up playing in the fall, too much tradition at stake. But it would be cool to have a college football season from August- December and a Pro football season the other half of the year. Though you would prolly have folks dropping out from heat stroke down south lol.

I know what you mean. I'm in the "cloud" all day fixing things. Some days are full of excitement, but most are just meh. I work from home so really I don't interact much with people except online. Sad Just how it is currently I guess.

The heat is exactly why football is played in the fall and winter. No way could players survive wearing all that equipment in the dead of summer.

What do I do in the offseason? Basically everything I've been putting off since the end of July!
