NFL Warren Moon = HOF player but STFU

RE: Warren Moon = HOF player but STFU
I almost never graduated high school because my teacher was racist. I sat next to a black student who I went to school with for 12 years and we were just joking around. Being funny I responded to my friend who I was joking with by waving my finger in the air and saying "whatever girl friend". It was the perfect response and action and everything to get the entire class to laugh.

The teacher then screams my name and begins to yell at me in front if the either students about how I was being a racist. I told her no, I'm not a racist. She said acting black is racist and she will not allow me to be in her class anymore. She then threatened to get me expelled from school for what I said.

She did all this in front of everyone. They were all shocked.

I looked her in the eye and said, "I know you have mistreated me for several month now. Everyone here knows you have singled me out for some reason. I dare you to prevent me from walking to get my diploma."

She filed a formal complaint that day. She was not a teacher the next year.

That's so horrible. How dare you get her fired?

Nah Im joking. It was stereotypical, not racist. But we all are stereotypical. Being stereoptypical isn't always a bad thing although sometimes rude. She as a teacher should have understood that. Well she found out the hard way.

I hope people dont think that its one-sided. I surely don't. In regards to sports, there was never a need for Prefontaine to raise his fist like Carl Lewis because he never had to go thru a racial barrier. He may have gone thru his own personal barrier if course.

That teacher was ignorant. She ultimately tried to use the race card in an unfortunate way. Thats what I was eluding to earlier. Al Sharpton is a smart person but sometimes, although he has calmed down recently, he uses that race card where it isn't needed.

Most of my white friends will never go thru what I or others have experienced, just like I may not go thru what you have experienced.

Warren Moon will never forget what he experienced and to his credit he did say vice versa. He said all QB's should be compared to all QB's.

Also White QB's never had to "break through" the barriers. Same as White coaches. The very reason why we have affirmative action or the Rooney rule. Black QB's had to break through thr idea that he wasn't intelligent enough to play QB. All he could do is run. He couldn't lead a team.

Some of us feel that the barrier is still there to dome degree. When race is brought, it isnt to get the person in trouble or to just do it. Its done because some feel the equality is not quite there yet, it has come a VERY VERY long way.

White QB's never needed to cry about things because being compared to a white QB was the goal in thr first place. Even looking at the perception of your question is what makes people upset. Equality is the goal of the ones who aren't ignorant or try to abuse the race card.

Even the idea of the "race card" is upsetting because itd being treated like a ploy or a strategy when its really just feelings, but we only have ignorant black folks to blame for that. Some use it when it isn't necessary so the annoyed white folks brought up the term to counter it.

Oh and I'm comfortable talking about and can see past things but I would refrain from using the word "cry" because it make it seems like its not a legitimate gripe at times.

I understand what you're saying. No I'm not black and won't ever know what certain black people have had to deal with.

I guess I see things differently from the way I grew up. I didn't grow up in a racist family. I grew up in a family that respected people who deserved it regardless or skin color and didn't respect those that didn't deserve it regardless of race.

I went to a school where people were taught to be respectful regardless of skin color. If anyone in my peer group showed any signs of being racist then they got shunned.

Also things have improved a lot in our society. Cam Newton and black QBs today aren't facing the same challenges that guys like Doug Williams and Warren Moon had to face. But Doug Williams and Warren Moon didn't face the same challenges of guys like Hank Aaron and Jackie Robinson.

I met him before. My Uncle Ronald is extremely rich and involved in a lot of things.

He had Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton over for an Easter dinner some years ago. I sat right by Jesse Jackson and about 3 seats down from Al. Obviously conversation was had and he is very intelligent.

Obviously I have some different views about howbhe goes about things and I'm pretty sure you do too, but he's an intelligent person.

I'll have to take your word for it then. If it is the case, then I sure wish he would use more of that intelligence when he speaks. Having been in Chapel Hill during the Duke Lacrosse case, and hearing him on TV every day (and we all know how that turned out) sure has jaded me to recognizing his having a thinking process, as well as considering him part of the racial divide. He does more to create it (and profit from it) than to ever be of benefit to healing, which is what we need.

I agree wholeheartedly. As I said before, if I disagree with you on one issue, then i understand that on that particular issue we do not agree, but that doesn't mean we don't agree on other matters.

We may disagree on religion, politics, type of women we like but for damn sure we agree about the Falcons.

Well said. If more people focused on what they agree about, the world would be much better. One thing I love about sports is the instant removal of racial tensions once a team scores when people wear the same color jersey!

Funny how it works like that. Same with concerts and many public events that create unity and focus on a specific cause.
