Even if he were to lose in the playoffs again I believe he's here for a long term stand as long as the Falcons aren't in a rutt. You know the bitch about all three of our playoff losses since he became the head coach? The failures have all been in execution. Just poor execution of the plays called on the field.

Despite how much we complain about the lame playcalling of Mike Mularky, and the ridiculously stupid "bend but don't break" and "Off-zone" defense that was BVG - we've fixed those problems. If we can't win at least one playoff game this season, I'm putting it on the back of the players - and I'm going to consider this season a failure. There is no reason with the talent on the field and the talent in the coaching staff now that we shouldn't put our standards as high as winning one or two playoff games MINIMUM. Mike Smith is a great coach, I don't see him going anywhere.

Well the good news is that this article proves that anyone can become a sports writer, apparently any knowledge of the sport you are writing about is not required, just write whatever random shit pops into your head and then get paid.

what this article is, is the sports writer covering his butt. If Smitty does well and the Falcons shoot through the playoffs then he can say, Smitty saved his butt with that performance. If he does poorly and is fired than he can say see I was write. If he does poorly and keeps his job he can incite the fanbase with a what is wrong with the Falcons article.

Either way he has another page to write.

in reality, I think they just make them a writer for whatever sport they can spell, they don't actually have to know anything about the sport. "just spell it right so the search engine finds it, you got the job" kinda thing
